The situation around which the plot was really artistically beaten is real: the largest uprising of the prisoners in the USSR, driven to despair, in 1954 in the Kazakh prison. Really inconvenient and still for many politicians, the director portrayed horror that is hard to imagine. People who demanded a human being were killed by internal troops: they were crushed by tanks, torn into pieces of meat by bursts of heavy machine guns of armored personnel carriers, and even delivered air strikes. Salvation and mercy were not there.
I missed the script through myself and realized that it was his, and actor Talashko. Vladimir Dmitrievich realized that everything came together: the script, role, talent. The actor (in his own words) gave all the best, showing one of his best roles.
Not only one thing followed - recognition. The tape turned out to be highly politically uncompetitive. And although in 1992 she participated in the Cannes Film Festival, she was simply not shown to the wide audience. And during the GKChP (as the director himself said in an interview), she even had to hide it by burying it in the ground.
