Perhaps the most beautiful of all the large birds on earth - this is how many would describe a peacock, this bird, which is in the literal sense of the word the brightest representative of the pheasant family. Few people know that there are about 200 species of these birds, including individuals resulting from various mutations. But the white peacocks stand out especially.

Unique birds

Without even having such a bright plumage, like their famous colorful brothers, they look truly chic. White peacocks stand out in many ways. You can start with the fact that, unlike many other absolutely white representatives of the fauna, they are not albinos. They are, so to speak, white by nature. And, accordingly, their eyes are not red, but, which is also very rare, blue (in males) and blue (in females). An incomplete dominant gene that determines white color is a key factor that people who breed these birds must take into account.

It is true that the white peacock does not have such bright iridescent flowers in plumage as there is no famous “eye” at the end of the feather. But nevertheless, having fluffed its tail and becoming like a giant dandelion, it strikes the imagination with its beauty. And a beautiful crest adorning his head completes the picture. Actually, what we used to call the tail of a peacock is not such. In fact, these are feathers differing in length from all others. And their owners are only males. Well, the real tail, hiding behind all this beauty, is no different. Interestingly, the peacock demonstrates his beautiful plumage only during the mating season to attract females, three or four of which he usually manages to charm. So, from season to season, a new polygamous family begins. But the rest of the time, almost impossible to get the peacock to pose in all its glory. He will fluff his magnificent tail only if it is angry.

White peacocks, like ordinary ones (if you can call them that), left a big mark in the culture, literature, religion and art of the peoples of many countries. In Iran and India, they are considered national symbols. A Buddha is often depicted on top of this bird. White peacocks, photographs of which often appear on brochures of zoos and national parks in different parts of the world, are appropriate symbols to encourage visits to these places. Although today peacocks generally do not play the role of sacred birds, as in antiquity, their breeding and caring for them for many people is a lifelong business. Moreover, white peacocks, along with other birds of this species, do not require special care. Anyone who has ever bred ordinary chickens will easily cope with this task. Although keeping peacocks and chickens together is not recommended, as the latter may simply be slaughtered to death. Peacocks are also distinguished by the fact that they adapt quite easily to various natural and weather conditions, feel equally comfortable in hot countries, and in more severe northern ones. It is not surprising that in many photos taken in various parts of the world, the white peacock is the key character.
