Memorial Day of the Victims of Terrorism is a black date in the calendar of any nation, saturated with its blood and tears. On this day, it is customary to honor the memory of those who became victims of terrorist acts, those whose lives were forcibly taken without any right to do so.
Each nation has its own memorial day for the dead, which means its own bitter history. And so that no one would forget about these tragedies, we recall the most massive attacks. About those terrible and tragic events that for a long time will respond with a heavy echo in the hearts of people.
What is terrorism?
But you need to tell a story from its beginning, from what became the cause of everything - terrorism. Dictionaries reveal this concept as a way of imposing political ideas through aggression. That is, by means of violence, terrorists want to influence the decisions of the authorities, thus demonstrating to them in this way their strength and determination.
Terrorism itself originated in ancient times, but only now has it reached its shocking proportions. The reason for this is a huge selection of weapons that can hit hundreds, and sometimes thousands, of people at one time. And the terrorists themselves have changed a lot, throwing away all humane feelings. Now they are not stopped by either the gender or age of the victims.
September 11 - International Day of Remembrance for the Victims of Terrorism
In September 2001, the world shook with horror at the events in America. On the morning of September 11, terrorists captured 4 Boeing, along with their crew and passengers.
A few hours later, two of them hit the world-famous twin towers, which were the largest shopping center in New York. The third was aimed at the strategic center of America - the Pentagon. As for the last aircraft, thanks to the efforts of passengers, it did not reach the target, but still this did not save them from their sad fate.
In general, almost 3 thousand people died on this day. The whole world sympathized with the Americans and despised the al-Qaeda terrorists. That is why for a long time, the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Terrorism was celebrated on September 11th.
Fire and tears - terrorist attack in Europe
Europeans wholeheartedly sympathized with America, but soon their own tragedy made them cry from grief. March 11, 2004 a series of powerful explosions occurred in the capital of Spain - Madrid.
This time, terrorists of the same al-Qaeda organization decided to use trains. They planted 13 bombs in the three largest trains of the capital, which are always crowded with passengers. Fortunately, only 4 devices exploded, which reduced the number of victims. Nevertheless, more than 200 people died immediately, and approximately 700 were sent to the hospital with severe injuries and burns. On the whole, more than three thousand civilians became victims of this terrible crime.
And now, March 11th in Europe is marked as the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Terrorism.
Russian day of sorrow
Russia is a great country on the territory of which people of various nationalities and religions live. It is not surprising that conflicts and disputes often arise within such a multinational state. But more sadly, some see their solution only in aggression, and therefore, victims of terrorist attacks also appear here.
The most sad case occurred on September 1, 2004 in the city of Beslan, which is located on the territory of the Ossetian Republic. On this day, militants took hostages of students at a local school. The conflict could not be settled peacefully - 186 children, as well as 148 adults, died as a result.
In memory of the events of that day, September 3 became Memorial Day for the victims of terrorism in Russia. And now every year the prayers of millions of people appeal to the souls of the departed.
