Dane DeHaan was born on a 1986 winter day in the American town of Allentown, located in eastern Pennsylvania. His parents are people far from the acting profession. His father, Jeff, is a programmer. Mother, Cynthia, is the Executive Director at MetLife International Insurance Company. The actor is the second child in the family. His older sister's name is Megan.

In an interview for one of the popular American magazines, Dane described his childhood as completely ordinary. He studied at Emmaus High School for three years. In the same period he played in a local amateur theater.

After high school, DeHaan moved to California, where he enrolled in a local art school. There he was first surrounded by exclusively creative people. The actor received a bachelor's degree in 2008.

The beginning of an acting career

Dane DeHaan began his acting career as a backup to Haley Joel Osment in a remake of the Broadway musical American Buffalo.

The American first appeared on television, starring in an episodic role in the popular legal series with a dramatic bias “Law and Order: Special Corps”.

Two years later, in 2010, he took part in the filming of the American show “Patients”. The actor played in 7 episodes. In an interview for Kinopoisk, DeKhaan admitted that he considers this role to be the key in his career. “Patients” became the biggest springboard in his life.

Later, David began acting in full-length films: Amigo, Risk Factor, Shadow from the Past, and Treatment.

For the first time, the American managed to get a key role in the film only in 2011. David played Andrew Detmer in Josh Trunk's science fiction drama Chronicle. The picture received mostly positive reviews from critics. The acting ability of DeKhaan was also praised.

Demand

In an interview, the American admits that he never dreamed of a dizzying career or popularity, he just wanted to do what he liked. But fate turned out differently.

After the success of the Chronicle, Dane DeHaan’s career went uphill. In 2012, he appeared in four more feature films, including Steven Spielberg’s biopic “Lincoln” and John Hillcoat’s crime drama “The World's Most Drunken County”. Dane’s colleagues on the set were: Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, Tommy Lee Jones, Shia Labough.

The real fame came to Dane DeHaan in 2013, when two films appeared immediately on the screens of movie theaters, where the actor played key roles.

The American played in a duet with Daniel Radcliffe in the dramatic film John Krokidasa “Kill your loved ones.” One of the film’s greatest strengths was criticism of David’s convincing and memorable game.

The second project featuring DeHaan was the musical film Metallica: Through the Impossible.

In 2014, the actor pleased comic book lovers with the appearance of Harry Osborne in the new adaptation of Spider-Man.

New projects

In 2017, the filmography of Dane DeHaan was immediately replenished with three paintings. In March, viewers were able to appreciate Horr Verbinsky’s frightening work “The Cure for Health”. In early August, a fresh fantastic action movie of the legendary Luc Besson “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, as well as Justin Chadwick's melodrama “Tulip Fever” appeared on the screens. In all the paintings, the American played the main roles.
