The Slavs never sought to seize foreign lands, so agriculture for them was a fundamental element of economic development.

Primary tillage system

The primary method of cultivating the land was bisexual. This land cultivation technique involves the conditional division of a particular site into 2 parts. During one season, only 1 part "works", and the second "rests". The second plot, which was not seeded, was called "steam." However, this part of the land allotment did not quite rest. It must be cleaned of weeds and plowed. Only “steam” was sown on the next sowing season, and the other part was “resting”. And so in a circle.

Bisexual is an opportunity to reduce the impact of the human factor on land depletion. But the method revealed a significant drawback - in more arid regions of the earth, under clean "steam" they were subjected to severe wind erosion. As a result, farmers began to use spring instead of pure “steam”. Coarse-grained seeds of spring crops were planted on stubble. After the sideral mass grew, it was cut with lancet paws to a height of about 12 or more centimeters. Thus, in the bisexual, this sideral mass acted as a means for retaining moisture and grazing livestock.

After some time, the system has undergone some changes. As before, the field was divided into 2 parts, but one was sown with winter crops, and the other with spring crops.

Secondary technique

Despite the fact that the bisexual is a fairly effective way of processing the land, over time, the technique has changed significantly. The era of the triple field began. The bottom line is that the fields have already been divided into 3 parts, one part was plowed and sown with crops for livestock, spring and winter crops were planted on the other two. This technique is used in some regions to date, as is bipartite. Land under the "steam" is still used for grazing.
