If the scenario of some modern action movie stipulates that the hero is the owner of a powerful pistol, then mainly the choice of directors falls on Magnum. The cinematic hero, the owner of Magnum, initially has more chances to win than his opponent, if his weapons are weaker. Once on the fly of this gun, the enemy is definitely doomed - the bullet that hit him is able to tear off his arm or leg. The sound in this case resembles the rumble of an artillery gun. Needless to say, its killer version such as Magnum stands out very effectively from the general range of cinema weapons. The gun is a constant participant in almost every action movie. But this is a movie. As you know, it is not entirely true.

What does the word magnum mean?

The gun, which the people call it that, is really distinguished by its huge lethal force. But “Magnum” is not at all a company or a trademark of weapons, as many people think. “Magnum” in translation from Latin means “large”, “large”, and from English it is translated as “enlarged portion”, “non-standard dishes” (bottle or mug).

In weapons business, the concept of “magnum” is also used to refer to special cartridges, the increased powder charge of which provides their increased power.

Beginning of the “Magnum Era”

The very first enhanced powder charge appeared in the 30s of the twentieth century. The creators of this commercial high-powered revolver cartridge are hunter-enthusiast Elmer Keith and Colonel Daniel Wesson. The cartridge was developed by the well-known weapons company Winchester based on the 38 Special cartridge, which until then had been manufactured by Smith & Wesson. In 1934, he first entered the arms market, where he received widespread approval. With the advent of this enhanced version of the cartridge, the “Magnum era” began.

“Magnumization” of a firearm and its reverse side

The first reinforced cartridges appeared in America. Later, the process of “magnumization” also affected European countries. Ammunition with increased powder charges equipped not only store rifles and fittings, but also self-loading rifles and pistols.

A revolver can more easily withstand the use of a reinforced cartridge than a pistol. Magnum-500, as a powerful cartridge, can accelerate the wear of a structure unsuitable for such ammunition or even cause its complete destruction. Each extra milligram of gunpowder entails an increase in the stiffness of the return spring. For the safety of the gun, its device needs reconstruction, including thickening of the barrel, weighting of the frame and bolt. The rumble accompanying the shooting, the most powerful recoil and the high cost of the enhanced charges are not for all owners of firearms to their liking. This led to attempts to self-equip cartridges, significantly weakening their powder charge.

Magnum pistol 45 caliber

This American firearm is intended for hunting and recreational target shooting. Used for this weapon pistol cartridges of the central battle. Their shells have no welt and are ideal for self-loading pistols. The basis for the creation of cartridges was the 45th ASR. Their cartridges are very similar in appearance. But unlike ASR cartridges, in the 45th Magnum, due to the use of a significantly larger powder charge, the working pressure increases, which leads to a thickening of the cartridge walls and lengthening of the sleeve.

The caliber of the Magnum-45 pistol allows the use of heavier bullets and a larger powder charge than in the Magnum-44. The weight of the bullet is 14.9 g, the speed is 420 m / s, and the muzzle energy is 1356 J. The use of heavy bullets and an increased amount of gunpowder in the cartridges increased both slaughter and recoil during firing, the presence of which was a significant drawback of these cartridges. The increased recoil negatively affected the aiming - the hand was thrown up strongly, it took some time to carry out subsequent aimed shots. This problem required a solution. The way out of this situation was the technical re-equipment of all weapon structures using reinforced cartridges. In the process of reconstruction, the pistols received increased weight and a handle that is convenient to hold during recoil with two hands.

Where is it used?

"Magnum" 45 caliber is distributed mainly among extreme hunters, as well as amateurs of entertaining target shooting.

It is for this category that these pistols are equipped with optical sights, which allow for aiming at arm's length. This was made possible thanks to special optical devices with a large focal length. The reinforced charges used in this weapon are also suitable for use in self-loading hunting pistols.

Because of the features of the 45th Magnum, such as the considerable weight and loud sound of a shot, this gun is not used at all by the military and special forces. For such power structures, the compactness of the weapon and its silent use are important.

Gas cylinder option

The Magnum air gun on the arms market is represented by the original Desert Eagle model.

This gun is also called the Lone Eagle. The weapon body has a plastic coating. The use of durable plastic in the production of this gun provides it with a long service life, the ability to withstand heavy loads in the area of the gun handle and bolt frame.

The design of the pistol is implemented by the “blobek” system, when the bolt frame comes back after the shot is fired and cockes the trigger. This has a positive effect on accuracy and speed of fire. But power and speed negatively affect the consumption of the contents of the gas spray, which is designed for 12 liters. After 30 rounds are fired, subsequent bullets do not reach the target, but fall in the air.

The pneumatic “Magnum” (the Lone Eagle pistol) contains solid plastic blocks at the locations of the “cheeks” for the handle, which provides a pleasant tactile sensation during the use of weapons.

Preparation for use

Before you start using the purchased Magnum gas cylinder (Lone Eagle pistol), it must be removed from the fuse. To prepare the weapon, a special screwdriver key is used, which is included in the equipment kit. This key can, if necessary, unscrew the locking screw located at the bottom of the handle. In this case, a hole is formed in which a CO 2 cylinder is inserted. It is completely airtight. The gas outlet necessary for creating air flows is formed by piercing during installation of the locking screw in its original place. The drum must be charged when removed. To do this, press down the lever that simulates the slide delay and slide the front of the gun forward. Such manipulations will open access to the drum. Using the Magnum pneumatic pistol, we must not forget that this is a very powerful weapon with a range of up to 200 meters.

Lone Eagle: advantages and disadvantages

The pneumatic "Magnum" - a pistol equipped with a "bloubeck" system - compares favorably with other models of gas-balloon weapons, both with high accuracy and power. Lead bullets that are loaded into the drums have high speed and lethal force. The disadvantages of this model, according to owners, are the low contrast of the rear sight and the front sight, which makes it difficult to aim in low light, as well as the lack of a spare drum in the kit. But this problem can be solved by purchasing an additional second drum.

Self Defense Weapons

The gas pistol Magnum Ekol Firat is a Turkish-made weapon. In the pistol market, he is considered one of the best models used as an effective means of self-defense.

Image

Recently, it was in great demand among the civilian population of the Russian Federation. To purchase this gun, it was necessary to present only a passport. Since July 1, 2011, these weapons, like other models of foreign-made pistols, were banned for sale.

The expected effect of using this model is traumatic. The pistol "Magnum Ekol Firat", unlike combat pistols, is not made of weapon steel. For this purpose, an inexpensive and less durable material is used, which, when a gun falls from a height onto a hard surface, can crack, which renders the weapon unusable.

The gun is designed for 15 rounds. Effective firing range - no more than five meters. According to the reviews of the owners of this model, after the implementation of 7, 000 shots in the mechanism, the springs of the trigger and hammer are worn.

The principle of operation of gas pistols

Gas weapons work on the same principle as their combat counterpart. The difference is that the combat pistol is designed to hit the target with a lead bullet, and the gas pistol - with a special aerosol jet. For this model of gas pistols are equipped with cartridges containing a powder charge and a powdery damaging substance. When a shot is fired, the powder charge burns out, forming the energy necessary to eject a bullet from the channel of the warhead. In a gas weapon, a crystalline powder is thrown, which, when exposed to high temperature, burns and turns into a gas cloud.
