Air rifle MP-512 among fans of wind weapons is considered one of the most popular. Worthy competition of this model in the market is only the pneumatic version of the Makarov pistol.

Initially, the popularity of the MP-512 rifle among other types of wind weapons was due precisely to the inability of the buyer to choose. On the shelves there were only these rifles and pneumatic Makarovs. Over time, when the windows of arms stores were filled with expensive Spanish and German wind models, the popularity of the MP-512 rifle was significantly affected by its relatively low price.

"Murka", as the people call this model, has become one of the most bought among the rest of the pneumatic weapon. Its cost is several times less, and the configuration of the mechanism with a reinforced spring significantly improves the performance characteristics. Izhevsk Mechanical Plant successfully produces air rifles MP-512 with a gas spring, the bullet speed and power of which are not inferior to foreign pneumatics.

Variants of rifles "Murka"

Today on sale there is an enhanced version of "Murka". This is an air rifle MP-512 m with a caliber of 4.5 and 5.5 mm and a power of 25 J. Initially, the MP-512 was presented in two versions - wood or plastic was used to produce the bed.

The model of this rifle first appeared on the shelves of weapons stores in 1998.

What is a gas spring and how does it work?

The pneumatic spring is a hollow cylinder containing compressed gas inside. In one part there is a plunger - a special rod that moves under the influence of compressed gas in the longitudinal direction. By pushing the plunger out of the cylinder, a force is applied to the pneumatic piston. During the platoon, the rod is pressed into the cylinder, and during the shot, the gas with which the power spring is filled pushes the rod back.

According to this principle, the MP-512 with a gas spring works. The speed of a bullet (the photo below shows the features of spring-piston pneumatics) depends on the speed of the plunger and piston accelerated by compressed gas.

If necessary, you can increase the pressure in the cylinder to 250 atmospheres, which will significantly increase the speed of the bullet (up to 230 meters per second).

Premium Series Gas Springs

Premium Reinforced Springs are used for Russian-made air rifles such as the MP-514 and MP-512. With a gas spring, the bullet speed is constant. What can not be said about wind versions equipped with conventional coil springs. For such weapons, the initial velocity of the bullet is unstable, its differences from shot to shot are observed.

Characteristics:

  • the diameter of the spring rod is 0.8 cm;

  • gas spring length - 119 mm;

  • the spring stem has a length of 88 mm;

  • a force of 55 kg is carried out;

  • injection pressure - 120 atmospheres (depending on individual preferences, you can, by ordering a setting for pressure, increase it to 250 atmospheres);

  • gas is used for filling - nitrogen 80%;

  • the body of the spring and its stem are made of steel.

During operation of a pneumatic weapon reinforced with a gas spring, it is necessary to periodically carry out its technical inspection for maintenance. It is advisable to do this after eight to ten thousand shots.

Gas springs from Vado

Reinforced springs manufacturer Vado adapted for such Russian air rifles as MP-512 "Murka" and standard IL-38.

Characteristics:

  • the mainspring has a diameter of 0.8 cm;

  • injection pressure - 115 atmospheres;

  • 53 kg pressure is applied to the stem;

  • 80% nitrogen is used for filling;

  • steel is used in the production of the spring.

This spring is sold in one copy. A persistent centering washer is attached to it. Once a year or after firing ten thousand rounds, an air rifle should be checked for inspection.

Advantages and features of firing from MP-512 with a gas spring

  • The speed of the bullet increases significantly (up to 2 m / s). At the same time there is an increase in power up to 15%.

  • Increases hit accuracy. In this case, the sound of the shot becomes short and biting.

  • The reinforced gas spring for MP-512 is easily installed on the standard pneumatics, without the need to change its design, turning or milling it. At the same time, using the persistent-centering washer, the mounted spring only needs to be centered in the back. A puck is provided. Ease and simplicity of installation of the strengthened springs is characteristic only for rifles since 2008. For products released before this time, the installation of gas springs is carried out with mandatory modifications in the design. The owner needs to grind a backdrop with a diameter of 20 mm to 32 and finalize the mechanisms for cocking and lowering. New models and standard IZH-38 air rifles with a reinforced spring installed on them should be sent to the technical inspection center for verification once a year.

  • Shooting comfort. The speed of the MP-512 bullet with a gas spring increases due to the elimination of vibration and lateral vibrations, which is typical during the operation of coil springs in standard air rifles.

  • Uniform platoon requiring minimal effort.

  • Due to the spring, the MP-512 efficiency increases.

  • The ability to store cocked weapons without negative consequences for the quality of the shots. In this case, no changes in characteristics occur in the MP-512 with a gas spring. The speed of the bullet (up to 2 meters per second) is characterized by stability, which is very appreciated by hunters. The ability to leave the rifle with a gas spring cocked due to its low load on the trigger details. It is not recommended to put coil springs in cocked state - this will lead to a decrease in the service life of USM parts.

  • Soft descent.

  • Unlike air rifles with coil springs, wind products equipped with their gas counterparts do not have extraneous clanging sounds in the system when shooting and cocking. This feature is provided for the MP-512 gas spring, the speed of which develops up to two meters per second.

  • The operational life of gas springs is 5 times longer than twisted ones.

  • Equipping a brass weapon with gas springs enables the rifle owner to use optical sights. This is due to the low recoil during firing.
