History
As in Cheboksary, in the city of Nizhny Novgorod Victory Park recalls the events of the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945. In fact, it is an open-air museum.
The foundation of the park is 1985. Its construction was dedicated to the 40th anniversary of the Victory. However, the museum became a real cultural value in 2012, when the first samples of military equipment were added to it. It was a plane, mortar complex, tank installation, gun. In the same year, an alley of veterans was laid.
In 2012, in Victory Park, more than 30 combat units of equipment were deployed. The very next year, the museum was visited by about 50 thousand people, more than 500 excursions and various cultural events were held.
In 2013, a monument was erected to the commander Vasily Margelov, who distinguished himself by his excellent command of paratrooper troops. At the same time, several thematic exhibitions were opened.
Exhibition Goal
The target orientation of this open museum complex is to demonstrate the contribution of the working people in the rear to the cause of victory in the Great Patriotic War. In the period 1941-1945. at the enterprises of the city of Gorky, a third of all weapons units and armored vehicles involved in the fighting were produced.
After the war, the production of military vehicles and assemblies was not stopped. In Gorky, some unique specimens were produced.
Museum exposition
Military exhibits are divided into sections. The first line is cars. Among them you can see the legendary "Victory", "Lorry", GAZ-69.
Next - artillery pieces and armored vehicles. Here visitors can see the T-34 tank, Katyusha, Forty-centered, as well as howitzers, armored personnel carriers. There are specimens representing the modern armament of the army - mortar "Tray", "Nona-SVK."
