It is worth noting that this term has a foreign origin. "Nostalgia" is a Greek word, which, by combining two parts, formed one, and in translation means "longing for the Motherland (native places)." This concept was introduced into everyday life by a Swedish doctor when he investigated the marvelous disease of soldiers located in foreign countries. It was interesting that upon returning to their native places, these men were completely cured of their ailment, although a few days ago it seemed that a person was slowly dying out, and the outcome of his life was simply inevitable. Since that time, nostalgia was considered a mental illness, which mostly emigrants suffer from, people who left their native country forever.
Changes
A little later, when more and more scientists became interested in this “disease”, it underwent some changes. Now it is believed that nostalgia is not longing for one’s homeland, but for one’s past. After all, most patients recalled not any territorial features, but precisely everything related to childhood, youth, youth, i.e. "Good times." It is longing for its beautiful past, no matter where it went.

Why do people begin to indulge in nostalgia? When does this most often happen? After all, young age is not overloaded with this disease. Longing for the past most often occurs in older people, as well as in single people. Only when there is time to indulge in memories can they begin to torment a person. If he is young, he practically does not sit still. He just has no time to indulge in despondency. The same applies to a person who is constantly surrounded by people. If he is in constant motion, nostalgia for the past simply will not have time to overtake him.

Modern youth believes that living today is much better than before. But for some reason, our grandmothers always remember their youth, which was completely savory. Why is nostalgia for the USSR inherent in them, because today historians already say that it was quite difficult to live at that time? Here the explanation is quite simple. No matter how difficult youth is, it will always be the sweetest, most pleasant period of life for a person. And it is far from a matter of money or material wealth. The whole thing is in a state of mind, when it seems that everything is ahead, a long and bright life road is open, and a person is full of strength and energy. “Grandmother's” Soviet nostalgia is just memories of youth with all its charms, concerns and troubles. It is safe to say that after some time, modern youth will also idealize this period of time, endowing it with some special pleasant features, despite all the hardships of modern life. This is nostalgia - these are those pleasant memories that you really want to indulge in, although it is sometimes very difficult.
