For most people, Wenders Wim is known as a filmmaker. But beyond that, he is also a successful photographer, producer and screenwriter. French and German cinema, as well as music, had a great influence on the work of Wenders. The director treats her with special trepidation. Wim's painting and exciting, charming music are inseparable concepts. In an interview, he admitted that he would surely become a lawyer if not for rock and roll. This article will describe a short biography of the director.

The beginning of the way

Wenders Wim was born in Germany (Dusseldorf) in 1945. After the war, the city was almost completely destroyed. The streets were empty, chimneys protruded from the ruins, but for some reason the boy didn’t scare him. Wim was only afraid of the trams that continued to walk in the ruined city from nowhere to nowhere.

It seemed to the boy that America would be his dearest place. It was there that he dreamed of getting. Wim first visited the United States as an adult and famous. The director felt at home there.

Film career

In Munich, Wenders Wim studied at the Higher School of Film and Television. Even during his student life, a young man tried to shoot short films. But still, his debut took place in 1970. Wim defended his diploma with the film "Summer in the City."

Having successfully graduated from high school, the young man began directing closely. In 1972, Wenders removed the film “Goalkeeper's Fear of the Penalty Shoot” from Peter Handke’s book. But real recognition, recognition and popularity came to Wim three years after the release of the film "False Movement".

Next was the picture "Over time", which was shot without a script. Nevertheless, at the Cannes Film Festival she enjoyed some success. "The sky over Berlin"

This picture is like a philosophical lesson, but not the one in which the desks and walls seem entertaining. In it, the viewer is fully involved in the narrative of morality, as well as in thoughts about the Universe, fate and life.

The fantastic drama Sky above Berlin opened up new spaces in cinema and became prophetic for the whole of Europe. Indeed, two years after its adaptation of the Berlin Wall fell. But even now, the film has not lost its relevance and is considered the standard of excellence for any artist, as well as a warning to humanity on behalf of higher forces.

Wenders Wim dedicated his film to three great directors: Andrei Tarkovsky, Yasujiro Ozu and Francois Truffo. In his opinion, they made a huge contribution to the study of human life through cinema.

The painting "Sky above Berlin" certainly became the standard of the arthouse genre. And here are the following notable works that Wim Wenders shot: “Filming in Palermo, ” “Come in without knocking, ” “Salt of the earth, ” “Land of plenty, ” “End of violence, ” “Lisbon Story, ” “Sky over Berlin 2”.

The hero’s films of this article are almost always subject to the usual course of time. Maybe for this reason they are easy to imitate. The main characters are in an unorganized, documentary environment. Each frame contained as much space as was required for a leisurely unfolding of the episode in a cafe, on the street, in an airplane cabin or in a train compartment.

"Everything will be fine"

In 2015, the jury of the Berlin Film Festival rather coolly accepted this picture. Although before that he was awarded a prize for retrospective. Thus, the maestro's filmography was a little spoiled. The only plus of the film, according to the jury, was its three-dimensional format, not typical for dramas.

The plot of the picture is based on the story of the writer Thomas, who was accidentally accused of the death of a child. For the next 12 years, the hero experienced this situation. His relationship with the mother of the deceased child is also shown. Key roles were played by Charlotte Ginsbur, Rachel McAdams and James Franco.

Pina

At Berlin 2015, the documentary Pina: Dance of Passion was shown in 3D. No complaints to the director have arisen. By the way, by the end of work on this film, Wim Wenders, whose best films are known to all fans of his work, realized the full potential of using 3D technology. You could just put the actor in front of the camera and shoot it in three-dimensional space. And a similar format will already be a kind of brain explosion for the audience. In accordance with this, the attitude to the close-up has changed, the actor in the frame has completely changed.

Miso Soup

The next notable work of the director was the thriller Miso Soup expected by fans. The main role was played by the incomparable Willem Dafoe. The show was scheduled for October 2015. According to a script written by Ryu Murakami and Kevin Kohler, the Japanese guide absolutely accidentally showed a serial killer to Tokyo.

In the same 2015, Wim Wenders, whose films are very popular in Europe, again began to collaborate with Peter Handke. This Austrian playwright has already helped the director write the script “Heaven over Berlin”. He also took part in the film adaptation of the play …

“Happy routine of Aranjuez”

This film is a story about the dysfunction of both personal and social. A European couple (a woman and a man) argues in the form of a dialogue game about the nuances of love desire. At the end of the picture, they come to the conclusion: harmonious relations between persons of the opposite sex are simply impossible.

In the past, the heroine of the film chose men in whose eyes she observed a reflection of her inaccessibility. And surrendering to each of them, the girl took revenge in such a peculiar way. From her experience, she concluded: "There is nothing darker than a woman’s hatred of a man." And the hero of the picture summed up: "There is simply no happy love." Wim invited Sophie Semyon and Reda Kateb to the main roles in this film. The playwright himself not only controlled the filming process, but also appeared in one of the episodes.

Hobby

In addition to the movie, Wim Wenders, whose filmography is quite extensive, is fond of rock music. He has worked with artists such as Lou Reed, Nick Cave and Bono.

Also, Wim practically does not cooperate with producers. He himself performs their duties. Wenders compares his own films with children. In this case, the producers act, in his opinion, in the role of a depraved and evil governess. Naturally, the director does not want to trust her with her children.

Personal life

Officially, Wim Wenders, whose filmography includes several masterpieces, was married three times. Here are the names of his companions: Solveig Dommartin (actress), Roni Blakely (actress and singer), Lisa Kreutzer (actress). With his last wife - Donata Schmidt Wim met on the set of the second part of the picture “Sky over Berlin”. The girl worked as an assistant operator. In 1994, the director married for the fourth time.
