Before the Western Lands were captured by the Andes, they were called the Kingdom of the Rocks. Rocks and in fact reliably protect the lands of the Lannisters from outside invaders.
On land there is only one way to the Casterly cliff - at the source of the river called the Trident. The Golden Tooth Castle was built there to protect against enemy wars. However, the north of the Western Lands borders on the Iron Islands, and the Lannisters have to maintain a huge fleet to defend themselves against the Ironborn.

Storm land
Coastal Power. The kingdom received its name due to frequent sea storms. It was not captured by the Andes, it remained independent until the era of Aigon Targaryen I. During the invasion of Targaryen into the territory of the seven kingdoms, the then king sent his bastard brother Oris Baratheon to capture the Storm Limit.
Argilak Durandon, who ruled then in the stormy lands, showed excessive courage and valor, deciding not to hide behind the walls of the castle, but to accept the battle in the open. As a result, the army of Baratheon defeated the army of Durandon, and he himself was killed.
Since then, the Baratheon’s house has been ruled by a storm power. Their motto is: "We are furious."
Power of the kings of islands and rivers
