In the majority's view, Moscow is a large metropolis associated with St. Basil's Cathedral and a group of skyscrapers of the Moscow City business center. However, in the capital you can walk through the woods and go fishing without leaving the Moscow Ring Road. The eastern district of Moscow is an ideal place for both wildlife lovers and families.

Izmailovsky forest

When approaching the Izmailovskaya metro station, people unfamiliar with this area are shocked: the train emerges from the tunnel and you find yourself in a forest. The only ground station in the Eastern District of Moscow is unique in its own way. The train literally travels along the edge of the forest.

Izmailovsky Forest Park is one of the largest forests in Moscow. It covers not only Izmailovo, but also such areas of the Eastern District of Moscow as Perovo and Golyanovo. In fact, the Enthusiasts highway can be reached through the forest, listening to birdsong and feeding squirrels.

There are several lakes on the territory of the forest park, where you can watch sunbathers and children feeding ducks in the summer, and numerous skiers in the winter. Also, year-round avid fishermen with fishing rods sit here.

Izmailovsky park

Fans of a more organized recreational family vacation will find Izmailovsky Park adjacent to the forest of the Eastern District of Moscow.

Here you can:

  • ride the rides;

  • enjoy stunning views from the Ferris wheel;

  • swim in a boat or catamaran;

  • Shoot in the dash;

  • play with husky and hand-made squirrels;

  • go to one of the needlework workshops.

The park is divided into entertaining and sports parts. In the second, there are tennis courts, basketball and volleyball courts, and in winter there is a huge ice rink.

Ferris wheel is one of the largest in the capital. It offers views of several areas of the Eastern Administrative District of Moscow: Izmailovo, Sokolinaya Gora and partly Perovo.

While the children are having fun in the cognitive-game center "Firefly", you can spend time with benefit. Especially for sports parents, yoga classes and fitness exercises are held every morning in the summer.

The royal estate "Izmailovo"

If you prefer to go to museums in your free time, then in the royal estate "Izmailovo" there is a great opportunity to join the history directly in the lap of nature. The estate is inextricably linked with the Romanov clan, especially with the name of Peter I.

It was here, in the barn of the Flax yard, young Peter I found an English bot, which later became the "grandfather of the Russian fleet", which is currently stored in St. Petersburg. For the first time he was launched into the Izmaylovsky ponds surrounding the estate.

Currently, boats are available for hire in the summer. Everyone can feel the indescribable feeling of sailing in the very place where the Russian fleet was born. The pond surrounds the estate, so from the water you can fully enjoy the view of ancient architecture.

In the center of the estate is a monument to Peter I, surrounded by flower beds. If you wish, you can sign up for an excursion and explore the entire island and buildings from the inside.

Music lovers will also be pleased: in the evenings, concerts of classical music and folk songs are often held here, dedicated to the holidays.
