About roots and childhood

On September 18, 1938, Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich was born. The nationality of his parents is Tatars. But back in the nineteenth century, the ancestors of Yagya (in particular, the grandfather who served in the Russian army) settled in the city on the Neva, so he considers himself a hereditary Petersburger.

The childhood of the future scientist fell on war years. The Yagya family was evacuated to Altai, where little Vatanyar went to first grade. After the war, Yagya returned to Leningrad, and studies continued in secondary school No. 73, in the Petrograd district.

Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich, whose biography is closely related to science, has repeatedly said in an interview that his success was primarily due to parents who managed to educate all the children. And there were five of them in the family - three sons and two daughters.

Education

Immediately after school, young Watanyar failed to enter a higher educational institution, and he worked as a loader for two years. The first place of work of the future star of science was the cafe at the Lenkom Theater. And in 1958, finally, the dream of a capable young man came true - he entered the Leningrad State University in the Eastern Faculty (Department of African Studies), where he studied the Amharic language of Ethiopia, as well as the history, culture and political system of this and other African countries.

At the end of Leningrad State University with honors, Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich was enrolled in graduate school. The dissertation was successfully defended in 1967, having received a Ph.D. in historical sciences. And in 1975 he became a doctor. In addition, Yagya completed an internship at Moscow State University and was a student at the University of Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, where he was exchanged.

Educational work

After graduating from graduate school, Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich remained working at LSU as a junior research fellow. The Department of Economics of Modern Capitalism was the start for his many years of teaching. True, a year later, Vatanyar Saidovich left the walls of his alma mater and moved to the Herzen Pedagogical Institute, where he taught at the geological faculty. Here he worked for eleven years, having received the title of professor during this time.

The next place of work of Yagya was the Institute of Soviet Trade, where he taught the economic geography of the USSR and headed the corresponding department. And in 1987, his former student again cordially received Leningrad State University, where he, now already with the rank of professor, was invited to head the Department of African Studies. But Vatanyar Saidovich was increasingly interested in the problems of relations between the countries, and when the faculty of international relations appeared at the university in 1994, he went to work there and still heads the department of world politics. In general, the pedagogical experience of the figure is 49 years. Of these, 30 were given by Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich to St. Petersburg State University. He had a chance to work abroad. Lectures of the Russian were heard by students of Israeli, Finnish and German universities.

Scientific activity

Vatanyar Yagya is a major luminary in the world of Russian science. He wrote more than 350 works devoted to problems of political and economic geography, international relations, linguistics, literary criticism, Ethiopian studies, etc.

Vatanyar Saidovich was creating the theoretical foundations of the political geography of third world countries; thoroughly studied the language of Ethiopia and even becomes the discoverer of certain of its phenomena; "Laid out" the foreign policy of many states, including Russia, the Baltic countries, Asia and Africa; established links between politics, history and geography at the international level, etc. All of his achievements are difficult to list.

In 1998, Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich received the title of Honored Scientist of the Russian Federation, and in 2006 the research team led by him was recognized as the best national school in the field of world political processes and international relations. There are other high ranks and awards in the "piggy bank" of this outstanding person. In particular, he is an honorary professor at St. Petersburg State University.

The department, headed by Vatanyar Saidovich at St. Petersburg State University, constantly becomes the organizer of various symposia, conferences and round tables of international level. Several employees of the department under the leadership of Vatanyar prepared a monograph entitled "Linguopolitical problems of world politics." Associate professors are preparing doctoral dissertations, which include sections relating to the ideas of the head of the department.

Yagya trained 24 candidates of historical and political sciences. In dissertations, they developed various innovative ideas. They were published in many scientific journals. In addition, Yagya advised on four dissertations that were successfully defended.

Political activity

It would be strange if a person who was so much interested in politics would not try to prove himself in this area.

From 1990 to 1993, Yagya Vatanyar Saidovich was a deputy of the Leningrad City Council, where in 1990-1991 he was even a member of the Presidium. He worked closely with the mayor of St. Petersburg, being his chief adviser from 1991 to 1996, and also leading the city government. From 1994 to 2011 - member of the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg. Today - Advisor to the chairman of this body on international relations. He is a member of the United Russia party.

In the political circles of St. Petersburg, the name of the elderly scientist is well known, and his contribution to the development of the city is difficult to overestimate. It is Yagya who is always instructed to conduct the most difficult negotiations with foreign delegations, and, as a rule, an experienced international man does his job brilliantly, which naturally benefits his hometown and the whole country. Deputy Yagya Watanyar Saidovich, whose photo is often flashed in the local media, is a recognized personality in St. Petersburg.

In political activity, Vatanyar Saidovich is greatly helped by his theoretical knowledge, including in the field of linguistics. While still a student, he learned seven languages, most of which he remembers until then and uses from time to time. Yagya speaks fluent English, knows Amharic thoroughly, speaks two more African languages, understands written Arabic. During the negotiation processes and speeches at various conferences, this helps the politician and scientist win over the audience and convey to them as accurately as possible all the necessary information.
