This word is not quite familiar to the Russian ear and is not used very often in Russian spoken language. It has many synonyms with Slavic roots, not all of them are normative. Adultery - what is it? Just adultery or something more intricate? And what was the general idea of inventing such an oddly sounding term to denote such ordinary mediocrity?

Adultery - what is it? French literature tells us this in detail and colorfully. A considerable part of the novels of Stendhal, Flaubert, Zola and Maupassant is based on the boiling of human passions around the infidelity of one of the spouses. This does not mean that French classics opened this topic. One of the central topics in world literature since antiquity was originally adultery. What is it, you can learn from Russian classics, it lies at the heart of the plot of Leo Tolstoy's masterpiece "Anna Karenina." To this very adultery, all religions unambiguously condemned, in public opinion there is a very twofold attitude, well represented by the well-known maxim: "If you can’t, but really want, then you can." It is interesting to note how there is relation to adultery in different societies with a different culture and a peculiar social structure. Any religion explicitly states that adultery is a sin. But only if in relatively civilized societies sinners are invited to confess their sins to the priest and no longer sin, then in countries that live according to Sharia law, sinners are brutally stoned in the central square. The same laws are quite lenient with men, and men can sin with impunity. Anyone who doubts the justice of these sacred laws will face even more sad fate than the fate of these very sinners. But everyone who is familiar with the gospels of the New Testament remembers that Christ forgave the fallen women. He said: "Let the one of you who are without sin throw the first stone at her." And try to argue with this statement.

It amuses and makes the public feel sad at some specific ladies' forums about adultery. The meaning of the word is not discussed there, other problems are more relevant there - how to “whore to the left” and enjoy it. And it is desirable that the legal spouse did not guess about this. Let him better be really on a business trip. It’s good that at least there are no proposals to return to the primitive laws and start stoning sinners.
