Life before the war
Dundee Angelo was born on August 30, 1921 in Florida. His real name is Angelo Mirena. Following the example of his older brother, he took the name Dundee in honor of the famous Italian boxer.
During the Second World War, Dundee Angelo served in the army, where he realized such a strong love for boxing. Very often took part in competitions, but not as a fighter, but as a second. An interesting fact is that the boxer himself did not take part in these fights. The exception was only a couple of fights during the service.
Life after the army
After Dundee Angelo finished his military service, he, like his brother, moved to New York. At that time, Chris Dundee had already achieved good results - he became a strong and experienced manager in the boxing field. Working together, the guys achieved incredible results. And soon all the doors of the boxing business were open for them.
Great results at the world championships
During his coaching, Dundee gradually began to acquire promising students. One of his first famous students was Bill Bosio. And after a while Carmen Brasilio appeared, repeatedly becoming the world champion under the leadership of Angelo Dundee. The coach trained his ward in a quality manner and helped him become the world champion not only in the welterweight, but also on average.
Unknown guy's call
The victory of the young Carmen Brasilio is just the beginning of success. The most interesting was yet to come. Angelo Dundee, whose biography is briefly described in this article, in the sixties of the last century became the coach of a young and unknown guy.
One day he heard a young unfamiliar voice in the telephone, saying that Angelo should begin to train a certain Cassius Clay. The guy said that in a few years he would become the world champion, so Dundee could not refuse him. Instead of sending an unknown teenager to hell, Angelo told him to come.
As soon as the guy entered the gym, Angelo Dundee (boxing coach) immediately realized that he was facing the future champion. Angelo never could answer the question of why he allowed the young impudent to come to his room. He could simply refuse him.
Important victories
Subsequently, Cassius Clay was called Mohammed Ali. His allegations turned out to be true. Two years later, young Ali was able to win the Olympics. And at the age of 22, he became the world champion among professionals.
Angelo Dundee and Mohammed Ali became real allies who went through the most difficult battles with Sonny Liston and George Forman.
An interesting fact is that in 1974, Foreman accused Dundee of stretching the ropes. But after a few years they became employees and allies. This couple impressed everyone: 73-year-old Dundee, a veteran coach, and 45-year-old Foreman, who was the oldest active boxer. Despite their age, the couple showed very good results. In 1994, the boxer was able to win the IBF and WBA championship titles.

In addition to Ali, Dundee also taught many other athletes who later became world champions. Here are some of them: Sugar Ramos, Luis Rodriguez, Ralph Dupa, Willy Pastrano. Dundee also coached Jose Napoles, who became world champion in 1969. Another famous student is considered Sugar Ray Leonard.
Throughout his coaching career, Dundee Angelo raised fifteen students who became world champions. The trainer is famous all over the world. In 1994, he was listed on the International Boxing Hall of Fame.
And even at the age of ninety, not being a coach, he still continued to advise young boxers and received real pleasure from it.
