The Harrison family from South Carolina saved a four-week-old squirrel wounded by owls. She was barely alive and would not have survived in the wild. Harrison gave the squirrel a name, shelter, and fed it fruit and nuts.
Bella - as the squirrel was called - received more and more freedom as she recovered. Harrison released the rodent, realizing that they would no longer see the pet. But their expectations did not come true: the squirrel returned time after time over eight years. Sometimes she came once a week, sometimes less often.
