Klara Borisovna Novikova (nee Herzer) was born in December 1946 in Kiev. Her father was Boris Zinovievich Herzer, who after the front served as the director of a shoe store. Clara's mom, Polina Semyonovna Herzer, was a housewife. Initially, the future artist dreamed of an acting career, even tried to enter the theater institute. However, the university commission did not see a dramatic actress in Clara.

The girl graduated from the studio of pop and circus art in the city of Kiev, and also received an education at the State Institute of Theater Arts of the capital. Arriving in Moscow, the artist began to live under a new name - Novikova. The surname went to her from a fellow drummer at the circus school, who for a short time was her husband.

At the age of 28, Klara Novikova participated in the All-Union competition of pop artists, where she was awarded the main prize from the chairman of the jury - Soviet theater and pop actor Arkady Raikin. Two years later, the girl was invited to the Moskontsert, where, regularly speaking on the stage, Novikova improved her talent. Almost immediately, the artist became famous among connoisseurs of pop music: she was loved by the public and was accepted by critics.

Klara Borisovna was able to play hundreds of characters on the stage, among which the most famous was the image of Aunt Sonya. Novikova for a long time spoke to the audience with pop monologues of a personal composition, as well as humorous texts written by other authors. But the true popularity came to the artist precisely from the time when she began to work with the famous Ukrainian playwright M. Belenky, since it was Maryan Davydovich who created the image that conquered the whole country.

In the early 90's, the national artist worked in the capital's theater of variety miniatures, led by Mikhail Zhvanetsky. In 1992, Novikova at the International Festival of Satire and Humor, which took place in St. Petersburg, was awarded the Golden Ostap professional prize. Two years later, she became the winner of the Arkady Raikin Cup at the international festival MORE SMEHA. In 1997, Novikova was awarded the title People's Artist of Russia.

At the turn of the century, the popularity of many beloved aunts Sonya began to slowly fade. She and other artists of the “Full House” era began to be replaced by younger comedians. According to Klara Borisovna, when she was in the hospital, besides a serious operation awaiting her, she could not think of anything else.

After surgery, Klara Novikova’s disease receded. She eliminated part of the mammary gland. However, the recovery period was harder than the operation itself. The woman was seized with severe depression. In addition to the illness, Klara Novikova lost her arm. To which the treating doctor said that she could no longer help her.

Klara Borisovna, thanks to the help of relatives and close people, began the fight against the disease. Overcoming pain, took food and medications. Every day, through force, I performed the prescribed exercises, trying in this way to develop a hand, and also attended special procedures.

After a while, Klara Novikova’s illness ceased to resemble herself. The actress began to come up with new numbers, changed her mind to put an end to herself, began to live with thoughts about the future and upcoming rehearsals.
