Probably any person who is at least a little interested in weapons, has heard such terms as pneumatics and trauma. But at the same time, due to the harmony and lack of more or less deep knowledge, they can be confused, although things are completely different. We will try to answer in detail in the article what distinguishes pneumatics from trauma so that confusion no longer arises.
What is pneumatics?
To begin with, this name is usually used when talking about air weapons. Today, both air rifles and pistols are available. On sale you can see a really formidable weapon that some enthusiasts use on the hunt, it can kill a middle bird or even a hare. However, its price is truly astronomical, sometimes several times higher than the cost of firearms.
But cheap air rifles and pistols, they are also “air”, can be seen in shooting galleries. They are sold in sports, tourist, hunting stores. As a shell, a tiny bullet with a diameter of 4-6 millimeters is used.
Pneumatic guns are usually equipped with gas canisters of carbon dioxide (CO2), which is installed in the handle. Rifles are found both with cans, and critical or multi-compression. For a few strokes of the lever, air fills the inner chamber, which allows you to make several shots in a row without reloading.
To buy such weapons do not need a license, even a teenager can buy it. It is used for entertainment, increasing shooting skills, because still using a real weapon with expensive ammunition is a real luxury, as well as instilling an arms culture for children.
What is an injury?
To know the difference between an injury and a pneumatic gun, you need to know what an injury is. So called traumatic weapons. And this is really a real weapon, for the purchase of which you need to go through a medical commission, purchase a safe and have special permission.
In terms of dimensions and appearance, injuries vary significantly, some in appearance are completely indistinguishable from military weapons, while others have a unique design, such as "Wasp", "Sentinel". Their cost is quite high, about the same as that of hunting weapons.
Only the barrel differs from combat pistols: it has several protrusions, due to which a metal bullet cannot pass through it. Therefore, they are suitable only for shooting with rubber bullets, which, when hit, cause sharp pain, and sometimes serious injuries, but rarely lead to death.
The disadvantage is the fact that it is impossible to identify the shooter by the pool, as is the case with conventional pistols. There are no rifling left on the pool. Many criminal elements, as well as irresponsible citizens, take advantage of this, launching weapons when they can be avoided, knowing for sure that finding them will be very problematic.
How are they similar and how do they differ?
So to summarize. What injuries and pneumatic differences and common features? Damn pretty little: a similar name (in a shorter version), as well as the fact that they can have an appearance that mimics a real military weapon. But if you tell me how pneumatic differs from injury, the list will be much longer.
You need to start with the cartridge. The "air", as mentioned above, is a small bullet, pushed by the piston under the action of compressed gas. In a traumatic weapon, this is gunpowder, as in conventional weapons. The dimensions of a rubber bullet (usually with a metal core) are also appropriate.
From the point of view of the law, the difference between pneumatic and injury is also noticeable. The first is a toy, and the second is a weapon, for the purchase of which you need to collect the relevant documents, and also provide storage conditions.
Finally, if we talk about how pneumatics differs from injury, it is worth noting the possible impact. Airguns can only pierce the skin or even get stuck in tight clothing. Serious injuries are possible only in the face, eyes, or large blood vessels. Traumatic weapons, even when hit in relatively safe parts of the body, leave serious bruises. If hit in the face, such a bullet could very well kill a person.
