Sharp expressions and verbal turns that are able to express the emotional state more accurately than usual words fall into our vocabulary in various ways. What is perdimonocle?
Like most other well-established expressions, this came to us in an abridged version. Over time, in Russian, the word of French origin "perdimonocle", the meaning of which we will consider later, changed its original form. Initially, the phrase sounded like "full perdumonokl". It was used in the context of the final completion of something. In other words - the end of everything! A direct translation of the expression "perdu monocle" sounds like a "lost monocle." At first glance, it seems that these two meanings have no connection between themselves. But this is not so. In the eighteenth century in Russia, wearing a monocle was considered a special chic, something akin to art. And to lose this accessory was considered a terrible embarrassment.

In general, about what perdimonocle is, there are several versions. One of them is the most popular (and the most reliable) - the so-called theatrical. We are talking about one stage technique, which was used very often and became a kind of stamp. To understand the essence, you need to imagine for a moment how a real gentleman wears a monocle. Better yet, try it yourself. The muscles of the face are in tension, and the eye is slightly squinting. And imagine that you heard something amazing or outrageous. In such a situation, controlling facial expressions is not easy: the eyebrows rise, the muscles relax, and, of course, the monocle falls. It turns out a mysterious perdimonokl.
