Biography and group creation
Joel was born on March 11, 1979 in Waldorf, Maryland, USA. He grew up in a family of Irish-American descent. Joel has a twin brother, Benji, who is the guitarist for their co-formed band Good Charlotte.
In addition to the twin brothers, two more children grew up and raised, this is their older brother Josh and the youngest sister in the family, Sarah.
When Joel was about 16 years old, his father left the family, financial difficulties arose, it was necessary to help his mother, who tried to provide them with everything necessary. Young Joel Madden was very worried and constantly worked to feed his family.

In her full 16 years, Madden Joel attended a concert by the American rock band Beastie Boys with his brother Bangie. After the concert, Maddena was simply delighted and even then thought about creating their own group. Madden's participation in other projects
In 2001, the full band Good Charlotte took part in the filming of the film Not Another Teen Moovie. Three years later, the team played in the movie Fat Albert, and after the Madden brothers were invited to star in the film Material Girls.
At the beginning of 2006, Joel Madden opened in a new direction, he launched a new clothing line, he shared the copyright to the collection with his brothers Josh and Benji. Tal Kuperman also assisted the brothers in design development.
