Director John McTiernan was born on January 8, 1951 in Albany (USA). From childhood he was involved in theatrical art. My father was an opera singer, and at the age of seven, John began to play in the theater, playing small roles in the productions of his parent.

After graduating from high school, Maktirnan entered the Juilliard school to study theater directing, but quickly realized that he was more interested in cinema. Transferring from Juilliard to the University of New York, he received a scholarship from the American Institute of Motion Picture Arts. John Maktirnan made his directorial debut in a big movie in 1986 with the film "Tramps", where the main role was played by Pierce Brosnan (the first main movie role in Brosnan's career). Having made a good impression at the Cannes Film Festival, having neither commercial success nor the recognition of critics, Maktirnan takes off the sci-fi thriller Predator with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the title role.
