Diver Tobias Saks just went about his business, being under water near Hurghada, Egypt, when he became a witness and participant in the amazing phenomenon. Tobias was suddenly "swallowed" by thousands of fish that formed a bait ball around him. A ball bait is the formation of tiny fish that are grouped into a tight sphere around a common center.

Divers usually swim into existing bait balls to take amazing photos or do research, but this is a pretty rare case when a bait ball is formed around the diver himself. But what is the reason for such a rare occurrence?
A friend of Tobias, a researcher Reinhart Hoft, 59, who also calls himself James, said his friend was so impressed by this amazing sight that he did not notice the huge whale shark that followed him. She was the reason why the bait ball was first formed.
It turns out that the fish tried to avoid meeting a hungry whale shark. This species, despite its name, is not really a traditional shark. This is not a bloodthirsty predator that can tear even small whales. This is a fairly calm, slow-moving marine animal that eats plankton and small marine creatures, such as those that circled around Tobias Sachs diver.

Rene Tees, who accompanied Tobias, took it all off. When the video was shown to other diving enthusiasts, they greatly envied Tobias, since such behavior of fish is a very rare, phenomenal case.
James, who runs the Blue Water diving resort, said: “A flock of fish sought protection from a whale shark by the side of the diver. We have already observed similar behavior of fish before, but we have never seen them seek protection from a diver. ”
