The construction of the first automobile bridge between Russia and China has been completed.
The footage from the opening ceremony shows how cars drive through the bridge between the cities of Blagoveshchensk and Heihe. Russia and China have become even closer, connecting their borders across the Amur River. The construction agreement was signed three years ago.

Preparatory work on the construction of the crossing began in Soviet times. For the first time, the prospect of connecting Blagoveshchensk and Heihe was voiced by the leadership of the two countries in 1988. In 1995, after the collapse of the USSR, China and Russia signed an agreement on joint construction. It began in December 2016.
“Previously, citizens of Russia and China in this area crossed the Amur River on pontoon bridges. This method has long been outdated and very inconvenient, ”said the Governor of the Amur Region.
According to him, with the advent of a new modern bridge, relations between the two powers should reach a new level. This crossing is of great strategic importance.
“After the opening of the road, Chinese and Russian businessmen will recount the logistics of mutual trade and supplies. New export opportunities will appear. We hope that friendship and partnership between the two countries will continue for many years, ”the governor said.
He also noted that the two sides intend to expand tourist exchanges.
