In January 1922, the revolutionary command issued a decree according to which the armored forces of the Red Army received special emblems. For example, in the control of armored vehicles used the image of a hand with a sword, the soldiers in the armored units - an armored car in a circle. Since that time, the personnel of the tank troops had the right to wear the image of the captured English tank Mk V. However, a large number of emblems were considered uncomfortable. In May of the same year, the signs of all formations dealing with armored vehicles were combined into one. The new emblem was in the form of a shield, a sword, wheels with wings, and a gloved hand holding a zipper.
