Folk wisdom wanders around the world, penetrating from one national culture to another, crossing state borders, seas and oceans. Today it is difficult to establish when the Jewish proverbs and sayings “Russified”, “Germanized” or “became ill”, but, undoubtedly, the centuries-old wisdom of the “eternal wanderers” influenced the everyday speech of various ethnic groups located in both hemispheres of the planet. Not always people using winged expressions themselves guess what language they sounded for the first time.

Who is the slime

The first thing that Jewish proverbs bribes is self-irony. The ability to play a joke on yourself is a sign of wisdom, and this artistic device is most clearly manifested in folk art. The hero of many sayings is a kind of "grind." This word means, generally speaking, a loser, moreover, near and possessing many other personal vices. The "helmet" (short for designation) is greedy, stupid, he never succeeds. If the slime grease trades in snow, a warm winter is issued, if in water, drought occurs. He sometimes speaks well, but it would be better to be silent. Of the two evils, the grimber manages to choose both. He does not live to see luck, because he cannot bear the troubles, falls to someone’s legs, and he is certainly stepped on his head. He speaks the truth halfway, and it turns out a lie. In general, if some Jewish proverbs are ridiculous, then this is because there is a grease in them: you can always make fun of him. The main thing is not to get carried away too much and not to become one yourself.

About wisdom

The sayings themselves, used to the place, are a kind of concentrate of wisdom accumulated over many centuries. It is not surprising that a considerable proportion of them are those in which a definition of rationality and, on the contrary, stupidity is given. At the same time, it is important that wisdom is not always equated with old age. So, one of the sayings says that the presence of gray hair indicates old age, and not about the mind. However, another states that an elderly person sees worse, but still more. Apparently, the accumulated experience affects. The call to not be too sweet (eaten) is instructive as well, but it is also undesirable to overdo it in bitterness (spit it out). Submitted and anti-alcohol theme: "the secret goes when the wine enters." These beautiful Jewish proverbs may seem too simple, their morality is too obvious. But there is no less wisdom from this in them. Indeed, the obvious rules of behavior, unfortunately, are not respected by all.

About family

Sometimes you can hear the usual phrase: “Love has gone!” “So, then it didn’t start!” - One of the sayings explains this phenomenon. Jewish proverbs devoted to the lyrical theme are diverse in both subject and orientation. Their range is wide - from romanticism (where there is love, there is no sin, and vice versa) and dry practicality (you cannot cook compote from the sweetest love). Who are all brides good for? For matchmaker! Even the old maid becomes a young wife, after her wedding, of course. What could be holier than mother for the right Jew? God sends her to where he does not have time. And Adam was lucky: he had no mother-in-law. A bad wife can be worse than rain, because he drives home, and she, on the contrary, strives to set the threshold.

About words

Jews tend to like to talk. There are few silent among them, everyone wants to say something smart. Despite the widespread opinion about the universal wisdom of the chosen people by God, this is by no means obtained by everyone. Jewish proverbs warn of the dangers of excessive verbosity. "Be quiet if there is nothing to say!" - It seems that nothing is special either, and yet if everyone acted like this … "First, children are taught to speak, and then to be silent" - an excellent generalization of pedagogical methods.

A person has one mouth and two ears. This is an anatomical fact. So, you need to listen twice as often as speak.

And one more thing: don’t trust someone who willingly talks about their troubles and hides their joys. This observation is very subtle, and each such advice can be useful.

About money and eternal values

Jewish proverbs and sayings regarding material issues are as varied as everyone else.

It is worth breaking yet another established stereotype about some special Jewish love of money and a special commercial vein, present in almost every Jew from birth. But what do we see? In fact, not much attention is paid to poverty, it is not considered either a vice or a virtue, at least, as the Jews who composed the proverbs thought.

Yes, they love money, and who doesn’t? Not so good with them, how bad without them! And the problem that can be solved by paying is not called a disaster, but an expense. But it’s not about the money, but that it was there. And for this it is necessary not only to accumulate them, but to acquire knowledge with which you can always earn them. It’s easy to carry a smart head on your shoulders, and no one will take it from you, unless they’ll tear it down, but then it’s all the same …

Again, it’s much better when the job is looking for you than if the situation is the opposite. There are also good sides to poverty. It is more difficult for a poor man to sin, his God protects him from temptations - as a rule, they are expensive. And it is noteworthy that there is enough mind for everyone, most people complain about the lack of money.

And how many il few of them, but you need to live. At least out of curiosity. I wonder what will happen next?
