At the beginning of 1803, the Novonikolayevsky village, named after St. Nicholas, was founded on the territory of the modern city. Subsequently, in 1903, he received the status of a city and its current name is Novosibirsk. The population of those years was approximately eight thousand people, and since then has increased by about 180 times.

The city was built on the territory of the Priobsk plateau, located in the Ob river valley, not far from the reservoir, which appeared as a result of the construction of a hydroelectric power station.

The population of Novosibirsk has exceeded the figure of one and a half million. Citizens live, work and rest on an area that is 506.7 km 2 and is twelfth in size in the Russian Federation.

This Russian city is considered one of the most dynamically developing: in a historically short period of time, it has turned from a provincial province into a real millionaire.

Population history

The size of the city of Novosibirsk at the time of its foundation was only 765 people, but every year it grew at a very fast pace, including thanks to visitors. In 1938, it had already increased to 406 thousand, and in 1963 reached almost a million.

The process in which the population of Novosibirsk was declining fell on the period from 1992 to 2007 and lasted as long as sixteen years. Then she reached the mark of 1390 thousand people. In 1999, the depopulation process was even recorded here, amounting to 12 thousand annually.

The city consists of ten districts, but most of the people live in Leninsky and Central. And the smallest in area and population is Zheleznodorozhny district.

How the number of people has increased over seven years

After a long period of decline, the population of Novosibirsk, finally, began to grow and reached the level that corresponds to 1993. For the first time in a long ten years, the outflow of residents from the city was stopped. Only in the last, 2015, the number of inhabitants increased by 21 thousand people and now is equal to 1 million 567 thousand inhabitants.

In 2009–2010 The main share of population growth was brought by migration processes, due to which the number of the city of Novosibirsk increased. At this time, the city also boasts a decrease in the rate of natural decline in residents. According to the census conducted during these years, about 1 million 474 thousand people were already living here.

Given the size of the city of Novosibirsk, it should be noted that most of the growth came from migration. It is easy to guess that a large number of representatives of different peoples of the world live here.

Of course, the majority are Russians, about 93 percent, and the remaining 7 are divided among themselves by Ukrainians, Tatars, Germans, Belarusians and Jews, as well as Finns, Poles, Tajiks, Azerbaijanis, Koreans, Buryats and many others.

Here are various natural and historical cultural monuments. For example, visitors are of great interest to the Ascension Cathedral, which until 1944 had the appearance of a small temple made of wood. In the Zaeltsevsky forest of the city of Novosibirsk is the main natural attraction of the city. We are talking about a dendrological park, which covers an area of ​​about 130 hectares. Here you can not only admire the surrounding beauties and breathe in the freshest air, but also get acquainted with 350 species of flora of our planet, seven of which are even listed in the Red Book of the region.

In 1999, a beautiful square was founded in Novosibirsk, which was given the name "Maternal", where you can relax in a relaxed atmosphere. A little later, the monument “Mother and Child” was erected here, symbolizing what deep and pure love a mother can give her child.
