Biography
Fabrizio Mikkoli was born in June 1979 in the small Italian city of Nardo. Soon, his family moved to San Donato di Lecce, where the future striker of the Italian national team and spent all his childhood.
Mikkoli came to football at the age of eight. At first he trained at a local sports school, and in 1991 he moved to the club academy of Milan. However, the young man did not stay here for long: because of homesickness, he returned to his homeland, where he decided to try his hand at Lecce. But the young football player was not accepted into the club due to his too small stature.
Club career
In 1995, Fabrizio Mikkoli moved to the youth team of a modest club from the C1 Series "Casarano". A year later, he was transferred to an adult team. In the first championship for himself, the striker scored 8 goals, and in the next he scored 11 more.
In 1998, Mikkoli signed a contract with Ternana. In its composition, he spent three seasons and became a local star. In 120 matches played, the striker scored 32 goals. Such results attracted the attention of the Italian giants to a promising striker. In 2002, Fabrizio transferred to Juventus.
However, the debut of Mikkoli for the Turin club did not take place immediately. First, the attacker was leased to Perugia, in which he became the top scorer in the Italian championship. Returning to Juventus, the forward continued his scoring series - scoring 8 goals in 25 matches.
Unfortunately, such a performance did not help Fabrizio Mikkoli gain a foothold in the Bianco Neri. In 2004, his transfer to Fiorentina took place. As part of the violets, the striker continued to score a lot, which greatly helped his club in the struggle to maintain a residence permit in Serie A. But since half of the rights to the Italian football player belonged to Juventus, he had to return to Turin.
However, due to the reluctance of the player to play here and his not very good relations with Bianco Neri fans, Fabrizio Mikkoli was leased to the Portuguese Benfica. As part of the Lisbon club, the Italian striker spent two seasons. Here he became a real favorite of Portuguese fans, but because of frequent injuries, he could not play at full strength.
In 2007, the transfer of Mikkoli was purchased by the Palermo club. Already in the second game for the Sicilian team, he scored his first goal, and all in the championship 8 times hit with accurate shots someone else's goal.

The next club Fabrizio was the modest Maltese Birkirkara. In its composition, the Italian striker spent 11 matches, distinguishing himself with 6 goals. At the end of 2015, the striker announced the end of his playing career.
Team appearances
For the first time in the Italian national team, Fabrizio Mikkoli was called in February 2003 for a friendly match against Portugal. In this game, he distinguished himself with an assist for Bernardo Corradi. A year later, he scored his first goal against the same Portuguese national team, and in November scored an accurate shot in a game with Finland.
Unfortunately, due to not very good relations with the head coach of “Azzurra Squadra” Marcello Lippi, Mikoli stopped calling in the national team. Despite his good performance, the striker was not included in the team for the World Cup in 2010. This injustice very upset Fabrizio.
