The Forest Flute or Forest Cat is all the Oriole. This bird is one of the most beautiful in the world. In addition, she is the best singer of the Russian forests! Her trills are reminiscent of playing the flute. It is almost impossible to discern this bird, as it always hides in dense foliage. By the way, in June, the Oriole begins to utter wild cries, like a cat that stepped on its tail. This is her battle cry, serving as a warning of danger.

Goodbye Russia!

Oriole is a migratory bird. However, from the south she returns to Russia later than the rest - in May, when the trees are already green, making noise with their foliage. And the Oriole flies to warmer climes earlier than all other species of migratory birds!

Feed

Oriole - a useful bird! She eats a huge number of harmful insects, benefiting plants and humans. The bird catches its prey in flight, and also collects on the ground and in trees. Sometimes she does not mind eating spiders or small snails. Interestingly, the Orioles and cuckoos are the only birds that destroy a special kind of harmful caterpillars that other birds can’t carry to the spirit! At the end of summer, our feathered beauty becomes "herbivore": it eats small fruits of trees, such as cherries, as well as pears and berries …

Habitat

Today, this bird is populated throughout Europe to the very south of England and Sweden. It is also distributed in the forests of southwestern Siberia. In general, the Oriole is a bird (photo No. 2) is very common almost all over the world! Just think: the north-west of Africa and Asia Minor, as well as the south-west of Siberia and the whole of Europe! By the way, its tropical origin is explained simply: it's a migratory bird! Moreover, in our area it does not stay long. Already in August, they disappear from their nesting places, flying from cold Russia to faraway tropical Africa! Here it is - the Oriole!

A bird whose singing cannot but please our ears is a lover of settling in old parks, gardens and alleys, as well as in thickets with fairly tall trees along the banks of streams. Often it can be found in deciduous forests and light forests. The Oriole tries to avoid coniferous and dense dark forests.

Nesting grounds

As mentioned above, in nature this wonderful bird is very difficult to notice. The Oriole is a fearful and cautious bird. Therefore, she adheres to dense foliage and only on very tall trees! There she nests. Her nest looks like the most ordinary basket of grass stems, leaves, birch bark and other natural "building materials". There are no neater builders among the birds of her height than she herself! Usually, the female makes a laying of 3-5 eggs. Both parents are involved in incubation. A month - and the chicks fly out of the nest! By the way, the nest of this beauty, skillfully suspended in a green grove, is very difficult to find for a simple layman!

"Hobby"

Some species of these birds are real neat! For example, the Oriole simply cannot live without constant bathing! This is her peculiar "hobby". Ornithologists are moved, watching a bright yellow chick, which, like a lonely swallow, plummet and rapidly falls from a height into the expanse of water. This is real happiness for all wildlife lovers!
