Austrian authorities have found a way to minimize carbon emissions - a bonus system for residents using public transport services.
Innovative approach
A new application has appeared in Vienna, which was created to reward citizens who refuse to travel in their own car. In this way, the Austrian government is fighting carbon emissions. In exchange for cycling or public transport, people get a nice bonus.
The Vienna application Culture Token is a trial and is designed for six months. It is tested by 1000 residents. The app will track human movements and count carbon savings.
Cultural activities
If the level has reached the necessary mark, then the person receives 1 token, which can be exchanged for a ticket to the theater, museum, or concert. The number of tokens is not limited. But upon receiving 5 tokens, the lucky one will have to exchange one of them for a ticket. Cultural tokens are issued only if you save 20 kilograms of carbon dioxide, which can be achieved with a two-week bike ride.
