Orlando's 25-year-old sales manager, Greg Smith, helped a homeless woman named Amy Joe learn to read. Thanks to him, she was able to get a job.

Greg wrote on Facebook: “I have several friends who are trying to find her a place. I hope she can live and work there. ”

Two very different people are now friends

Greg met Amy Joe every day on the way to work. She did not ask for money, she just greeted friendly. In the end, he went up to her. They chatted, and he found out how she lives. Their meetings turned into weekly dinners.

Greg shared a story about how he met Amy Joe and how she changed his life. “For the past few weeks, Amy Joe and I have met every Tuesday on the corner of Pine Street and S. Orange Ave in downtown Orlando, ” Greg wrote on Facebook.

“Every day on the way to work for a week, I met Amy Joe at this intersection, and she never asked for money. She just said, “Good morning, sir, have a nice day.” God bless!" and smiled. I go to work every day in a suit, so they often ask me for money in the city center. But Amy Jo never asked."

Every Tuesday, Amy Joe and Greg Smith now dined together. He was struck by the positive attitude of a woman who really has nothing.

Amy Jo once surprised Greg very much: she can't read

A woman does not smoke, does not drink, has no drug addiction or anything like that. She just never asked anyone to teach her to read. Amy Joe told how hard it was for her to find a job.

She admitted that any money that sometimes can be collected, a woman uses to take library books that will help her learn to read, and not buy food.

“It crushed me !!! She wants to learn reading more to find work than to eat, ”Greg shared on Facebook.

“I was blessed with two wonderful parents and a family that always had the resources to provide me with everything I wanted to do. Amy Joe doesn't have that. So now we are not only sitting and having lunch, but also teaching her to read. I take one library book a week, and we read it together on Tuesday. Then she practices on her own for the rest of the days.

This post in no way makes anyone feel sorry for Amy Joe and is not written to boast that I am doing something for someone less fortunate. “I wanted to share her story, because perhaps this could lead to someone helping another person.”

Greg Smith turned to Facebook users: “There are many people who need help. Not all of them are hungry, homeless or wounded. Some may be your family or friends. Helping someone is as easy as saying hello and smiling. I’m lucky with finances, I can take care of Amy Joe, which I’m going to do."
