When many people do something, there is a logical explanation for this. But sometimes the behavior of some people does not obey the laws of logic. This happens on an intuitive level. This phenomenon is often associated with a certain apprehension. This is exactly what happened with the head of the runway, Sergei Sotnikov.

Work or secret mission?

Sergey works at the old airfield, located in the northern village of Izhma. It is not listed in any official document or registry. Airplanes have not flown here for a long time. Everything is in terrible desolation. However, this did not stop the man from monitoring the cleanliness of the abandoned runway. And he did this for almost 12 years.

According to the hero himself, intuitively, he knew that his work could be useful. But the fact that she would save the lives of passengers, he did not even guess. What happened to the airport?

The sad story of the old airport

The history of the local airport, which belonged to the assigned port of the neighboring regional center in Komi, is sad and typical at the same time. It was founded in 1978. At the same time, our hero came here, who at that time was 20 years old.

Sergey graduated from the Yegoryevsk Aviation Technical School and immediately got to the new Izhma airport in distribution. His duties included refueling aircraft, maintenance, fuel and lubricants management. There was a lot of work. Closer to 1990, air transport began to fly less frequently, the number of shifts at the airport was reduced.

And when after three years the railway was built by the municipality, the load on the local airport was reduced to a critical minimum. Later, all the airport property was also taken out.

In 1997, Sotnikov was made the head of a dying airport. And about a year later, there was a complete reduction in personnel, and the airport itself became a lite version of the most primitive helipad. Aircraft have become very rare guests here. But Sergey continued to clear the site and keep order.
