Kelly Martin - the first in a ten-year period to come from the Liverpool Academy, who was among the Reds, the holder of the Dallas Cup in 2008 and the Football League Cup in 2012. He is also the rightmost defender of the Liverpool Football Club, and at the moment, on loan from Crystal Palace (London), plays at number 34.

The first steps in big sport

Martin - an Englishman by birth, was born in Whiston (UK) on April 27, 1990. The career of a budding player began at the age of seven. From childhood, the guy began to engage in this sport, first only in his hometown, and then took part in football competitions not only with local teams, but also with regional ones. Then, in 1997, he became a graduate of the Liverpool Academy, which for the first time conquered him with the scale of the world of this sport, of which Martin sought to become a member. The trust of the coach, hard training, the development of the best qualities of a football player and defender led him to a dream - the beginning of a professional career.

Beginning of the profession

A persistent seventeen-year-old player, a graduate of the Academy, could not help but notice the "Merseysiders." It was in 2007 that Kelly Martin, defender of the English Liverpool, began his career, when his merits were appreciated and offered a place in the first team. This year, he entered into an agreement with the club, moved to Melwood and continued to develop successfully for the benefit of this team until today. However, before this happened, there were several important events in the life of the player.

He began to work as a central midfielder, but due to a back injury that knocked him out of training at the Academy for as long as 2 years, he was transferred to the position of defender. Of course, this news was a surprise for Martin, since he considers himself familiar and dear to him as a central position. However, this could not upset the man who, after a lack of practice, immediately fell under the wing of Harry Ablett, the head of the reserve staff of the Reds. Thanks to this, Kelly Martin was able to score his first goal after the 2007-2008 season. The debut took place in the 82nd minute of the match with the Dutch “PSV”, in which he replaced J. Carragher. It was the Premier League, in the final of which he also received the Dallas Cup. In this period, the footballer no longer played in the first team and was transferred to the Huddersfield before the end of the season.

Success and career development

In 2009, starting to play for the named club, Martin Kelly, the English football player of Liverpool, scored his first goal in a professional game, for which he was rewarded with positive reviews. In the lease of this team, Kelly managed to play 7 matches.

The season of 2009-2010 began for him with his debut in the Champions League in the confrontation with the French “Lyon”. This game also did not go unnoticed for Martin - he was recognized as the best player from among the “red”, speaking on the right flank. The game was also remembered from the bad side: the football player was injured, which knocked him out of work for 4 months. But the athlete persuaded the coaches that he had completely recovered from the damage and was ready to play in the Europa League.

In total, Kelly Martin scored three goals in 15 games for England youth teams at a young age. The first goal for his native club was in the League Cup game against Chelsea (London) in the 63rd minute, which brought his team a 2-0 victory.

After his first victories, namely in 2010, Martin pleased Liverpool fans by extending his contract with the club until 2014.

The 2010-2011 season was also productive. Compared to the previous one, in which he played 3 times, and then from the reserve, in this period he already worked in 23 oppositions. There were more than enough difficulties - a new injury, competition for a place in the lineup with young athletes (Flanagan, Robinson). However, the persistence of the player and the confidence of the coach brought him to the game against the English Manchester United in the Cup. Another test was another injury, which pushed the opportunity to speak until the end of the season.

Martin was never able to achieve the position in the basic structure of Liverpool, and in August 2014 he moved to the London Crystal Palace. The transfer cost about one and a half million pounds.
