Kevin Scott Richardson was born on October 3, 1971 in Kentucky. He spent his childhood in Asia, as a teenager he moved to live on a farm located near the American city of Lexington, which is known for its pedigree horse breeding and the tobacco industry. His mother is a housewife. Father is a handyman: he served as a firefighter and manager in a summer camp. Kevin has two older brothers - Gerald and Tim. In his interviews, the musician says that he spent all his childhood in the fresh air. Already at 4 years old he was able to ride a horse.
In school, Kevin became interested in sports: horseback riding and cycling, then - American football. In high school, he became the captain of the Estill Engineers team. The future musician stood out among his peers due to the habit of running ahead during the games, for which he received the nickname Train, which translates as “train”. Sport was not the only hobby of the young man. In high school, he began to attend a chess club and actively participate in theatrical productions. Kevin admits that in his life there are only two favorite hobbies: acting and music. At 9, he wanted to learn how to play the piano. In the same period he began to sing in the church choir.
Relocation
After leaving school, the young man faced a difficult choice: to connect his life with the US Air Force or to enter the American Musical Dramatic Academy. In the end, Kevin Scott Richardson decided to move to the city of Orlando, located in the state of Florida. The future star was only 19 when he began to independently raise funds for his life. Together with his best friend Jimmy, he worked part-time as a model, wrote custom music, performed in clubs, was a dance instructor, and even starred in a cameo role in the movie “My Girl”.

Father's death
In June 1991, mother called Kevin and said that his father was dying. The disappointing diagnosis of cancer was made several months ago. The disease progressed rapidly. Richardson left everything and returned to Kentucky to stay with his family during this difficult period. Two months later, Kevin's father passed away, never having won the battle with a serious illness. After the funeral, the young man remained in his native land for a year. His mother convinced him to return to Florida and continue his attempts to build a musical career.
Backstreet boys
In 1993, Kevin Scott Richardson joined the Backstreet Boys vocal group, which already had three members. The fifth member was his cousin - Brian Littrell. The group signed a contract with Jive Records and released their first single, which was not popular in America, but took the first lines of the charts in European countries. In 1996, according to the results of the popular vote, the boy band became the best foreign team.
Richardson remained a member of the Backstreet Boys until 2006, and then decided to separate and pursue a solo career. The group continued to perform as a quartet, abandoning the idea of taking someone to replace Kevin. In 2008, 2010, and 2011, the musician periodically participated in the performances of his former colleagues. In 2012, the team officially announced that Richardson was returning to their ranks.
