One of the ancient Slavic cities is Kiev. Yuzhny Bridge (a city landmark) was built on December 25, 1990. It was considered the most modern in the Soviet Union. South Bridge was the seventh in a row, thrown across the Dnieper.

History

This is one of the attractions that Kiev can be proud of. Yuzhny Bridge has its own author, who became both the first chief engineer - this is Fuchs GB (the second is M. Korneev). Leading architect of the project - A. Gavrilov 112 million rubles were allocated for the construction of the bridge. The project was developed by "Mostostroy No. 1". The chief engineer was Panasyuk I.A.

The design of the bridge began after the Moscow opened. The laying of the route at first had several options (a continuation of Science Avenue, etc.). But the current version of the trace was recognized as the best.

The cable-stayed bridge became in accordance with the requirements of rivermen. The construction of the South Bridge was started in 1983 and lasted 8 years. Over sixty organizations of the Soviet Union were involved in the construction. But the most active part was taken by Kiev.

South Bridge: construction tasks

The purpose of the planned construction was not only to connect the center of Kiev and the left bank of the Dnieper, but also to create a convenient and short route to the Boryspil airport. The bridge was built to move not only cars, but also subway trains. Now the southern construction is part of the E-40 highway.

First project

Initially, according to the first project, South Bridge (Kiev), photos of the structure are presented in this article, there should have been a restaurant built above the subway line, and the sidewalk gallery covering it. According to them, people could walk to the restaurant or go on foot to the other side. But the project was never implemented, since the pylon was installed in the middle of the Dnieper. There are no places for stopping and parking nearby.

In an attempt to get to the restaurant on foot, people from the coast would have to walk at least half a kilometer. In addition, the question arose about the bathrooms and kitchen drains of the institution. Sewer pipes would have to be pulled up to the left bank, and in winter the communications could freeze at all. Accordingly, it would also require heating for 24 hours. Therefore, the construction of the restaurant had to be abandoned.

Description of the bridge Kiev is proud of

The South Bridge, built in 1990, is cable-stayed by design. The roadway is held by a 135-meter pylon. The whole structure is completely second after Paton in length. At the South Bridge, it is 1 kilometer 256 meters, width - 41.6 m. The construction connects with Bazhan Avenue:

  • Saperno-Slobodskaya street;

  • Vydubychi;

  • Capital highway.

South Kiev bridge has two ways for subway trains. It occupies approximately ten meters from the total width of the structure. And automobile lanes have three lanes (2x12.25 meters wide) in each direction.

The elevated part of the South Bridge is made of precast concrete. The supports are dug to a depth of 23 meters and secured by drill piles that go underground another 38 m. In diameter, the south bridge has three rows of prefabricated bird-boxes. They are united by monolithic joints made of reinforced concrete. Birds have different thicknesses, and the weight of each box is from 40 to 54 tons.

The cable-stayed bridge 565 meters long consists of two parts. The steel part (271 m) weighs 7, 400 tons and has a main navigable span. It is fixed by 72 cable-stayed pairs. The reinforced concrete part is built as a counterweight to the main span.

Construction

The initial roundabout of the South Bridge (Kiev) is three-level at Vydubychi. Then the second bridge construction was built - the overpass, the length of which is 1250 meters. But the main and most difficult object was the passage, the length of which was over 1200 m. Then two pipes of the heating main and the same number of water pipes were laid. Later, communications were built into the bridge.

If you add up the entire load that puts pressure on the structure, then it will be equal to twenty lanes that are filled with cars. In order for ships to pass under the bridge, the 300-meter steel part of the structure (together with the main span) was suspended on cables. The track is only partially covered by galleries, and the sidewalks are laid according to the standard version - along the roadsides.

Pylon

The main part was the 135-meter pylon - this is exactly the height of the South Bridge in Kiev. The design is fixed guy. The pylon is made of monolithic reinforced concrete. The upper bridge is a kind of bridge with fences. At the top of the pylon there are small rooms in which winches and other equipment are located. With it, guys are served. The top of the pylon with the road is connected by a staircase with spans (they are located on the front side), which is hidden in a concrete box.
