It’s quite interesting to realize that 9 out of 10 young people who make up the future of Russia may not know who wrote War and Peace, but they will probably answer the question of what xenophobia is. Is this not a reason to think in what direction the majority’s thoughts are directed, in which area it is really important for them to be knowledgeable.
Turning to dictionaries, we note that xenophobia is a fear of the unknown, a fear of someone else's and inaccessible to our understanding. Oddly enough, but even now, in the age of globalization and mixing cultures, young people are carefully guarding their created world, not letting in progress and not allowing them to enter into this circle of tact and tolerance for other people.
Xenophobia is, more specifically, the hostility towards foreigners, the fear of foreigners and their rejection. Indeed, xenophobes are called those who do not take strangers as equals, albeit not because of hatred, but thanks to a tightly grown mentality. It was in the USSR that the authorities tried to do everything so that the population in Russia was wary of citizens of other countries. Almost everyone knows that strangers were called spies.
Thus, xenophobia is more a relic of the past than a modern trend. However, in my opinion, the imposition of this worldview and putting it at the forefront leads to enormous results - young people support the opposition, while believing that they are acting on time. But only now time dictates rather the continuity of foreign cultures, the adoption of a different point of view and finding a compromise.
Continuing the theme of xenophobia, it is necessary to highlight one of its known types - racism. In Russia, on every corner, in any television program, one can encounter hostility towards other races, ethnic groups (ethnophobia) and much more. Every day, the authorities develop projects to combat illegal social manifestations, but, apparently, the punishment is not something terrible for people who accept such a belief.
Yes, I didn’t make a reservation, it was faith. On the Internet you can even find several books describing the type of activity, the main goal and mission of radical organizations. Racism in Russia crosses all borders, and it seems blatant cases of oppression of football players, throwing them with bottles and uttering unpleasant expressions against them. In my opinion, sporting achievements should not be associated with racial affiliation.
Racism, when viewed from the point of view of history, stems from submission and slavery. And although formally an uncompromising struggle is waged against him, in reality in Russia there is a flourishing of groups that support unauthorized methods of conveying their own opinions to the masses.
So, in the Russian Federation, the militant organization of Russian nationalists was widespread, which by their actions produced a real explosion of indignation and condemnation, but, in addition, admiration. Already, many young people are striving to do something like this, either together with this movement, or creating their own. The most popular groups similar to BORN now are Russian Shield and AGS (Autonomous Resistance Group).
The militant organization of Russian nationalists has already become famous for drastic measures to combat persons of other nationalities who in any way did not please the Russian population. Of course, it is impossible to unequivocally evaluate the actions of these young people, because in some situations they punished those whom justice refused to even seek. Another thing is that the phrase “everyone should be avenged by any means” does not correspond to democratic canons. But where, tell me, one can find support and retribution, if not among the radicals.
There is no doubt that they act cruelly and not humanly, chopping off their heads and uploading photos to the Internet, but they try to make a trial in this way, because sometimes ordinary people have no place to wait for justice. Is not it?
