Would you agree to fly in the luggage compartment of an airplane? Do not rush to answer this question, because you still do not know which concept won first place at the Aircraft Interiors Expo in Hamburg.

More recently, an annual exhibition was held in the German city, in which companies offer their new visions of the interiors of the aircraft of the future - from VIP to economy class. The expert group considered more than a hundred applications from companies from 22 countries with the aim of highlighting those ideas and concepts that could be implemented on most airlines in the near future.

In 2019, the winner was the project of comfortable boxes located in the lower deck of the aircraft, that is, in fact, in the luggage compartment.

The main award went to Airbus, one of the leading manufacturers of modern aircraft, in collaboration with the French company Safran.

These two aircraft titans have been recognized by experts for their “sleeping modules located on the lower deck.” They will expand passenger space without compromising passenger comfort and convenience.

The designers explained that the main essence of the concept is to provide a quiet, comfortable and still unused space for passengers to sleep for travelers who make long flights.

It remains only to decide how exactly the airlines will dispose of such a design - whether they will offer passengers the opportunity to spend some time in the chair, and some in boxing, or will they offer passengers to spend the entire flight in a horizontal windowless module.

Designers admit that claustrophobes would not like this boxing very much, however they tried to provide a small berth with maximum comfort.

More familiar passenger accommodation options also did not go unnoticed at the exhibition. In the Passenger Comfort Hardware category, RECARO, the manufacturer of aircraft seats, won.

The German company introduced the economy class seat, specially designed for long flights. In this chair it’s convenient not only to sit, but also to sleep, thanks to the supporting collar and height-adjustable “clamp”, which is also an excellent support for the head during sleep. The innovation of this German company will finally allow you to forget about uncomfortable travel pillows.
