There are many beautiful and picturesque parks in the city of Lyubertsy, but one of the most famous and most visited is Natashinsky Park. Why do visitors like it so much? The park has beautiful Natashinsky ponds, thanks to which the rest becomes even more exciting. Unfortunately, you can’t swim in them, but you can rent a catamaran and ride on the water, or you can just sit on the shore and feed the ducks that live on the ponds.

History of the Natashinsky Ponds

The initiative to create Natashinsky ponds in Lyubertsy belongs to the merchant Skalsky Evgeny Aleksandrovich. At the beginning of the XX century, he acquired land near the village of Podosinki and decided to attract summer residents to these places. In order to sell the plots as soon as possible, the merchant began landscaping: the swamps were drained, old trees were uprooted and three ponds were dug up. In order for summer residents to have an interest in gathering here, on the banks of ponds they made baths and put benches. Skalsky also thought about fishing enthusiasts: crucian fry were launched into the ponds.

There are many legends about the history of the name of the ponds. One of them says that the ponds were named so because the girl Natasha drowned in one of them. But fortunately, this is not so. Natasha was the daughter of a merchant, in whose honor the village was originally named. Subsequently, both ponds and the park began to be called Natashinsky.

Natashinsky ponds: what is happening now

In the 90s, the park was practically abandoned, no one put it in order for many years. Amusement rides and playgrounds became unusable, the sports stadium fell into decay. It is good that there were local enthusiasts who cleaned up the park for free. In 2013–2014, the Moscow Region authorities decided to ennoble the park and make it a comfortable recreation area for residents of the city of Lyubertsy. They cleaned Natashinsky ponds, put benches on the shore, and hung hammocks. Near water bodies appeared cafes and kiosks, attractions, playgrounds and much more.

By the way, there are only two ponds right now, since the third was buried during one of the park's reconstructions.
