On Wednesday, February 13th, there was a small scandal at the new Russian political talk show “Who is against?” Hosted by well-known Russian political expert Sergei Mikheev, and with safety net … Vladimir Solovyov himself. Soloviev on a safety net is, of course, strange, given the weight of Vladimir Rudolfovich, not only in the field of television journalism, but also in the political sphere, and in general in the country's public life. But it just so happened. So, during the broadcast, one of the program’s guests, Ukrainian journalist Yanina Sokolovskaya, was literally expelled from the studio. This talk show has this option: Sergey Mikheev, just like a football referee, can show the “player”, the guest that is, a yellow or red card for his behavior. Yellow is a warning. Red, respectively, removal. So Sokolovskaya was removed, according to Mikheev, because she constantly "spoke butt-to-head", which means that she interrupted everyone, and frankly at times was rude. If you mean rudeness, the transition to personality.

Necessary "backlight"

In fact, the situation is not so rare, to put it mildly, on political talk shows, and not only on Russian ones. But the topic was “highlighted” by the media, relying, naturally, on the political preferences and attitudes of its editorial offices and owners, and the output turned out to be a small, but still scandalous.

Muffled question

Image

As mentioned above, Yanina Sokolovskaya received a red card for the totality of violations. But the background, the foundation of her behavior and the tough opposition from her opponents in the studio was one of her extremely controversial, if not absurd, statements. It seems that the death of people in the House of Trade Unions in Odessa on May 2, 2014 is responsible … Russian special forces. The case is so high-profile that there is no reason to dwell on it in detail. It seems that everyone remembers him. And if someone suddenly forgot, it can easily find all the information. Therefore, we will say very briefly: on May 2, 2014, in Odessa, when supporters and opponents of Euromaidan clashed, in the fire in the House of Trade Unions burned or died, trying to escape, forty-two people. This is according to official figures. Sometimes there is information, unofficial, and about the greater number of dead. Naturally, both sides of the conflict blame each other for the tragedy. However, it should be recognized that at that moment the opponents of Euromaidan were the defending side. Supporters of Euromaidan attacked, bombarding the building, including Molotov cocktails. The tragedy has not yet been investigated. The culprits are not named. And so, speaking of her, Sokolovskaya made her statement about the alleged responsibility of the Russian special forces. This statement was not supported by a reference to facts and verified information, it was completely unfounded, but the Ukrainian journalist stood her ground, referring to the investigation materials. Recall, not yet finished. When they tried to point out to her the frank weakness of her position, that she did not and could not have access to the investigation of such a resonant case as the killing of forty-two people, she interrupted and shouted opponents with a discouraging naive smile. After this incident in social networks, many residents of Russia again began to ask a mossy question: what do the same “foreign experts” do in the studios of endless Russian political talk shows on various television channels, sometimes openly pouring mud on their host country - Russia? And are they really “experts” that you can’t do without them?

Bah! Familiar all faces!

And indeed, if one sets a goal and monitors Russian political talk shows, one will find that it’s not the first year that the same pool of “foreign experts” appears on different channels and in different programs. Here are just the most famous names, as they say, offhand. Ukraine is often represented by the already mentioned Yanina Sokolovskaya and the "star" of the Ukrainian "expert" segment Vyacheslav Kovtun, Poland - Yakub Koreyba. There was also Tomasz Maciejczuk, but he agreed to the extent that he was banned from entering Russia. However, there is someone to replace. Or here is the "Russian" American Michael Bom. Also a very interesting character. All of them are more or less Russophobic. Someone is brighter, like Kovtun or like Maciechuk. Someone, like Michael Bom, is trying to portray a pensive intelligence on his face. This usually ends with the fact that "foreign experts" are bits. Sometimes figuratively, and sometimes literally.

Why do they need it?

Image

And really - why do they need it? Why do they agree to the role of whipping boys and girls? After all, the same Kovtun received not only insulting statements addressed to him, but sometimes also in the face. Michael Bohm grabbed the scruff of the host of "Time Will Show" on Channel One Artem Sheinin. And how many presenters drove out of the studio, like Mikheev, Yanina Sokolovskaya? After all, this is all humiliating for a normal person. And it probably hurts. Sometimes. Or the right question in this case is not “why?”, But “for how much?”

And in the media, and simply on the Internet, in social networks, the question repeatedly popped up that all the above-mentioned "foreign experts" undergo not just like that, but for money. Someone almost sits on the bet. Someone on a one-time fee. For the beat - a separate fee. One of the regulars of such talk shows in the past told me that somehow a “foreign expert” in the building drove into the dressing room. Slightly. So, according to him, some TV channel employee immediately approached him and politely asked: is he ready to pay the victim a certain amount? Because, they say, if the “expert” is hit on the air, then the editorial office pays, and if behind the scenes, the editorial office has nothing to do with it. It is not known how much such stories can be believed, but sometimes even the alleged amounts of “expert fees” appear in the media. For example, Kovtun is credited with “salary” from five hundred to seven hundred thousand rubles a month, sometimes even up to a million. It is clear that this refers to the total income from constant, almost daily participation in various talk shows on various channels. That is why the word "salary" is taken in quotation marks. They also write that Kovtun has already earned a good apartment in Moscow. Others also write about the "housing problem", but note that this is a rented apartment. Like a mansion in which, according to media reports, Michael Bom lives. Incidentally, it is estimated at the level of Kovtun - five hundred to seven hundred thousand rubles a month. But Yakubu Koreybe media "drew" a lower income - up to five hundred thousand rubles. It is noted that this is, so to speak, "star fees". Other experts may receive, according to the information of individual publications, up to fifteen thousand for participation in the program, and third - up to thirty. And their participation is not as constant as that of the same Kovtun. At the same time, here's the thing: none of the “foreign experts” specifically caught hands in receiving a fee for participating in the program. That is, this is all the information that is supposedly walking in the corridors of the studios, and someone catches her with a sensitive ear. The “experts” themselves, if they are asked questions about fees, go to the unconscious and deny everything. They can scold.

For the honor of the country

Image

But if not for money, then why? Well, for example, some, like the same Michael Bom, say they are trying to convey to the viewers an alternative opinion, like the voice of their country, in this case, the United States. It seems that Kovtun, Sokolovskaya, and Koreyba can say the same. True, this does not look too convincing on television.

Why is it for Russian TV channels?

Image

This is a really good question! Why invite people to the studio who are throwing mud at your country and terribly annoying your viewers? Moreover, and if the assumption of fees is true, paying them good money for it. Or maybe it is in order to annoy, and invite? Indeed, if we analyze various opinions and statements on this subject, we can make several assumptions. First: commonplace for ratings. This is especially true of those talk shows that go on during the day and which are mainly watched by housewives who are busy at this time preparing lunch or dinner for the family. They do not really delve into the meaning of what they say at the time on television, but clearly respond to noise, screams, scandals, fights. Therefore, it is in the daytime air that all kinds of excesses often happen. In nightly programs, the same Solovyov, for example, is quieter and more meaningful. Very difficult foreign characters sometimes come there. There, perhaps, their tasks are being worked out. What kind? Well, for example, load the minds of people with political food on those who love idle thoughts on conspiracy theories, listen to the secrets of the political backstage, feel in the thick of things, hold your hand on the pulse, it seems, to be involved. Something. Again, this is sometimes not all too verifiable. Just because it is opinions, interpretations, nothing more. But terribly interesting. And to make it even more interesting, the studio needs opponents. It is advisable of those whom the “good guys” win with a 100% guarantee. This is the second. Well, and the third. Someone believes that the invitation of just such Russophobic "experts" is aimed at redirecting the irritation, which gradually accumulates in any society, to the external circuit. Moreover, in the end, these “experts” will certainly turn out to be “our” bits. And those countries and the political forces that they allegedly represent are not at all terrible and harmless. Well, really, what danger can a “stupid" Kovtun salivate spit? Or honored, but also not "sparkling with the mind" Koreyba? Or mumble bom? The show ended, and it seems like we won again.
