The personality of Adolf Hitler does not need to be introduced - the whole world knows about the indelible crime of the fascist leader. However, the natural question is: "Is there anything that reminds of him?"

Were there any monuments to Hitler in Germany?

Today, there are no monuments to the leader of the fascist state in Germany and Austria. It is incorrect to assume that they were all destroyed - they simply were not there. Adolf Hitler was not preoccupied with personal glory - he was more concerned about the glory of his nation, in the name of which he did all his inhuman deeds.

As for the small sculptural forms, at one time the busts of the fascist leader adorned German houses and public institutions. Now, of course, they are either disposed of or hidden by certain connoisseurs from prying eyes. According to old photos, it can be concluded that during the heyday of fascism, the Olympic imperial stadium was decorated with the head of a Nazi politician, made by the sculptor Thorak - also, to some extent, a monument to Adolf Hitler.

The beer house in the city of Munich, where the putsch of Hitler and Ludendorff (known as the "beer putsch") began in 1923, also lost a plaque informing of this event. According to tourists, even guides, talking about this place, try not to focus on it.

Memorial places related to Hitler

If it is impossible to find a public monument to Hitler, then places about which you can say: "Hitler was here" remained, and most of them are open to tourists. It should be noted that Austria and Germany are actively opposing the fact that these locations become memorials to the memory of the world criminal.

So, we list these places:

  1. Austrian city of Braunau am Inn. The house where Adolf Hitler was born was preserved here. However, the building did not belong to his family - they only rented a room there. Today, the building is owned by the heirs of the original owners, but is empty. Many people know the statement of the State Duma deputy F. Kuntsevich, who wanted to raise 2.2 million euros to buy this house in order to wipe it off the face of the earth later. But a member of "United Russia" got excited - the building cannot be treated in this way, because it is an architectural monument of the 17th century. In front of the house is a memorial stone from the quarry of a concentration camp in Mauthausen "No to fascism. In memory of the dead."

  2. In the city of Passau, there are two houses where the Hitler family lived. In one of them, in the 1930s, the Fuhrer Museum was organized - for today, only a guest book remains from it.

  3. Linz, Lambach, Hafeld, Steyr - the monastery has survived, where Hitler, according to legend, first saw the swastika, the house where he lived, his school (Fishhalm) - a sign is installed next to it, saying that a man who brought death to millions was studying in it innocent victims.

  4. Leonding - the graves of the father and mother of the Nazi leader. Tombstones were removed from them in order to prevent the pilgrimage of neo-Nazis, but the remains of the dead are not exhumed.

  5. Vienna - the houses in which Hitler lived, who decided to try himself as a painter, are still intact and you can rent premises in them. But no one connects them with the Nazi now.

  6. Munich - houses on Tirstrasse, 54 Schleisheimerstrasse, 54, as well as apartments on the Prinzregentenplatz square - are preserved - the police station is now located at the last address.

  7. Bavarian Alps, Hitler's residence "Eagle's Nest" ("Kelsteinhaus") - the building is converted into a hotel. It was there that a Russian film was shot about the crimes of the Fuhrer "Moloch".

Are monuments to Hitler erected in modern times?

In 2010, a note flashed in the news that activists of the Ukrainian organization UNOT are going to erect the first monument to Hitler in Zaporozhye - the only environmentally conscious leader (as you know, the Fuhrer advocated for healthy lifestyle). Adherents of the community even managed to raise a certain amount to realize the idea, but that was the end of the matter.

In 2012, the news was relevant that a monument to Hitler was erected in Poland. Photos and more specific evidence indicate that the penitential figure of the Fuhrer is only part of the exhibition of Italian sculptor M. Catellan. According to the author’s intention, it can be seen through a hole in the wall - the statue stands with its back to the viewer.
