Vladimir Vladimirovich Mayakovsky - the famous Soviet poet, the "mouthpiece" of the era, a rebel and a reformer in the field of versification. He became acquainted with Russian classical poetry very early, and memorized verses by A. S. Pushkin, N. A. Nekrasov, M. Yu. Lermontov.
After moving from his native Kutaisi to Moscow at the age of 13, he continued his studies at the gymnasium, and in his youth he became interested in the revolutionary moods that were floating in the air of the city. The "revolutionary" verses written by Mayakovsky in the conclusion, which he visited three times, were not preserved. For the general public, the work of the young poet became available in 1912, thanks to the collection "Slap in the face of public taste." In the same collection, Russian society could get acquainted with the manifesto, signed including Mayakovsky. The Manifesto announced the final demarcation of a group of poets with the traditions of classical poetry. Following the path of the then new trend - futurism, Vladimir Mayakovsky used unexpected comparisons and images, an unusual chopped rhythm, and unusual rhymes in his poems. He was devoted to the cause of the revolution, the Communist Party, believed in the communist future of his country. That is what became the main theme of his works. And also laid the basis for the creation of the monument to Mayakovsky in Moscow.

The author of the Mayakovsky monument in Moscow is Alexander Pavlovich Kibalnikov.
The characters created by this master are famous people of the era of the Soviet state - whole and creative personalities, faithful to the principles of humanism and devotion to their country, strong-willed and brave people who embodied the ideals of their time. A master of sculptural portraiture, Kibalnikov was endowed with the ability to subtly feel the spiritual world of a person, to capture his mood and all this was masterfully used in creating sculptures.
Work on the Mayakovsky monument in Moscow became a landmark in the work of the sculptor. The monument to the poet was laid on Mayakovsky Square before the Great Patriotic War - in 1940. Work on the creation of the sculpture project was interrupted by the difficult times for the country against fascism. From the very beginning of work on the project, Kibalnikov joined in creative activity. Immediately after the end of the war, he returned to her. Ten years have passed from Victory Day to the project competition. Famous sculptors of the 50s took part in the creative competition, among which were: Sergey Timofeevich Konenkov, Matvey Genrikhovich Manizer, Evgeny Viktorovich Vuchetich, Mikhail Konstantinovich Anikushin and others. An exhibition of design works was held in 1953 in the halls of the Moscow History Museum. Kibalnikov’s victory in the competition was also marked by the presentation of the Lenin Prize to the sculptor. As a co-author A. Kibalnikov should be called the architect Dmitry Chechulin.

Mayakovsky holds a notebook in his hand. His gaze is turned towards the sunrise, where the "new day" is emerging. On the pedestal are carved words from the poems of V.V. Mayakovsky, in which his love for Moscow and his country is glorified.
