Mass-size copies of military weapons gained great popularity among amateur pneumatic pistols. The Makarov pistol (PM) is widespread in the Russian Federation, which caused an increased demand for its pneumatic version - MP 654K. The model is unpretentious in use and has a decent initial bullet speed.
In the process of manufacturing the product, elements from the combat PM are used, due to which pneumatics is very similar to the original. A slightly shortened barrel, recessed in the muzzle, imitates a real 9 mm caliber. Externally, it differs from PM in that it does not have a sleeve ejector.

The pneumatic MP 654K is similar in operation to the firearm model. The trigger mechanism, which differs only in the absence of a striker, has hardly been altered. Also changed is the store, which was modified to recharge the balls and fix the carbon dioxide cylinder.
Makarov pistol MP 654 works according to this principle:
- in the store place a cylinder with CO2, screwing it until the needle pierces;
- in the can, the liquefied gas becomes compressed, it is located in a sealed chamber;
- lead or steel bullets are charged to a store equipped with a spring-loaded feeder;
- after pulling the trigger, the trigger strikes the spring-loaded valve, which briefly releases compressed CO2;
- the outgoing gas has a lot of pressure acting on the ball and pushing it out of the barrel at a considerable speed.
Standard equipment
Almost all product accessories need to be purchased separately. Standard equipment includes instructions, seals (gaskets) with a screwdriver, 200 steel copper-plated balls. For shooting, you need to buy cans with CO2, oil for cleaning weapons and ramrod.

Cleaning and disassembling
For disassembling and assembling weapons, as a rule, there are not enough instructions and manuals; you need to see the whole process. Training videos can help to understand the disassembly and assembly of the MP 654 pistol.
Note: a complete disassembly may be required after the product falls into water or dirt. Not recommended without having to disassemble the weapon.
During scheduled maintenance, incomplete disassembly is performed, the barrel and mechanisms are cleaned and lubricated. For this:
- the store disconnects;
- the trigger guard moves to the left and down - it becomes delayed, allowing you to disconnect the shutter;
- the shutter is pulled back to the stop and its rear part rises up, then before the shutter it disengages, and it is removed through the barrel;
- the return spring is removed from the barrel.
To clean the barrel, a copper ramrod is used. The barrel is wiped with rags wetted in oil and pushed through the bore with a ramrod. As soon as there are no dark spots on the rags, the remaining oil in the trunk is wiped dry.
The mechanism is cleaned with a dry toothbrush. In places of moving nodes, oil is added (an oiler with a long nose is used for this or sprayed from a spray can).
The design is assembled in the reverse order. The assembled product is wiped from excess oil, but not wiped dry - the remains of a thin oil film will protect against early rusting of the metal.
Preparing the product for use
First, the store is charged with balls and a can of CO2 is screwed into it. The equipped magazine is placed in the handle all the way, while the fuse is moved parallel to the barrel.
Security measures
To minimize walking with a loaded weapon, the target should be prepared in advance. Shots are fired only towards the target, making sure that there are no people in the direction of shooting. Before carrying, the MP 654 pistol must be defused, for which the remaining balls in the store are shot and the cylinder with the remaining gas is twisted.
During operation of the gun is prohibited:
- direct towards the people the muzzle;
- store and leave in a charged state;
- disconnect the full container from the store;
- disassemble the store with the balloon placed.
Also, when reducing the speed of the bullet, which is associated with the gas flow in the cylinder, you need to stop shooting in time, without firing blank shots without gas. Otherwise, after the magazine is removed, the remaining bullets in the barrel will fall into the trigger mechanism, causing it to break.
Replacement and repair of parts
Often, it is necessary to replace the dried out applications and the “settled” springs in the pneumatic gun. When replacing gaskets, they must be carefully removed from the seats.
Note: do not rush, because because of this, you can scratch the contact points of the gasket and metal, which will adversely affect the tightness.
To eliminate gas leakage, the seals are lubricated with silicone oil. The use of WD-40 automotive fluid is not recommended because it destroys the polymer material.
To replace the return spring, the Makarov MP 654 pistol is not completely disassembled. More trouble involves replacing the supply spring, because the store has to be completely disassembled. To replace the bursting elements of the trigger, the product is completely disassembled.
