In February 2017, following the results of the last competition in the nomination “Best Combined Arms (interspecific) training ground”, the Prudboy training ground was recognized as the winner. The Prudboy military training ground is one of the largest in the Southern Military District. Initially, the name Prudboy refers to a settlement in the Kalachevsky district of the Volgograd region. Then so began to be called the nearby land forces training ground.
This object does not need a special presentation for the military personnel of the Southern Military District, and even more so for the personnel of the nearby 20th police brigade (separate motorized rifle brigade). A special pride of the military is that in 2017, the Prudboy training ground was recognized as the best in Russia. He is considered one of the most sought after training facilities in the country.
It is known that large-scale military competitions were held at the Prudboy training ground in the Volgograd Region. Joint maneuvers of the Airborne Forces and the Russian Guard were also held here for the first time. It is known that the main stages of the Caucasus-2016 exercises were held on the territory of the training ground. History
The Prudby training ground was known even before the start of World War II. Until its fall, 1942, tank brigades were formed on its territory, as well as their combat coordination. Among them are the legendary 4th Tank Brigade of Colonel M. Katukov, who later received the honorary title of the First Guards Tank Brigade.

In the federal rating, the Prudboy training ground was named the best among interspecific (combined arms) counterparts. This competition was held for the first time in 2017. In his three nominations, aviation, land and sea ranges were presented.

Exercises "Caucasus-2016"
According to experts, life itself gives the polygon excellent marks. In the past 2016, “Prudboy” became the venue for large-scale exercises of the rear organs, in particular, one of the largest and most difficult stages of the Caucasus-2016 tactical anti-terrorist exercises combined with the Airborne Forces that were the first after the creation of the Guard. These strategic KShU (command post exercises) of the Southern Military District were carried out in 2016 from September 5 to September 11 in order to verify the real state of the mobilization and combat readiness of the troops to fulfill their intended tasks.
During the events, new modern forms of methods of using combat operations of the troops were tested. The main attention was paid to the organization of clear interaction between the land, sea and air components of the interspecific military group. The issues of mass transportation of equipment and personnel over long distances in the presence of terrorist threats in the region were worked out.
In total, 12.6 thousand military participated in the maneuvers, the latest equipment, fleet and aviation were involved. The exercises involved the forces of the Airborne Forces, Airborne Forces, the Northern, Black Sea and Caspian Fleets. According to the head of the exercises, chief of the General Staff of the RF Armed Forces V. Gerasimov, a new combined arms army is being formed in the south-west direction.
According to the results of the All-Army Games
On June 10, 2017, at the Prudboy training ground, the final of the All-Army Games, which started on June 5, was held. Military personnel competed in such spectacular and vivid disciplines as Tank Biathlon and Suvorov Onslaught.
Crews from the Western, Eastern, Southern and Central military districts, the Airborne Forces, the Northern Fleet, the Kazan Higher Tank Command of the Red Banner School competed for the right to be named the winner. In total, 7 Russian Armed Forces crews were concentrated at the training ground.
In the team event for tank biathlon, the first place was taken by tankers of the Southern Military District, the second place was taken by the participants of the Eastern Military District (Eastern Military District), the third was taken by the team of the Kazan Tank School. According to the results of the competition, the ml crew was recognized as the best crew of the T-72B3 tank. Sergeant M. Polovnikov (Southeast Military District).
In the competition "Suvorov Onslaught", took part the crews of BMP-2. The I place in the team event was taken by the DVOKU team (Far East), II - the team of the Southern Military District, III - the MVOKU team (Moscow). A platoon of cadet D. War economy
The Prudby training ground is a huge farm with an area of 21, 000 hectares, which has convenient training fields for military training. According to media reports, the state has only 2 officers, the rest of the military are contract soldiers. The head of the training ground is Lieutenant Colonel A. Systematically at the training ground, one can observe how armored vehicles “run” around the tank racetrack - this is how the personnel of the tank battalion hone their driving skills. Features of the current school year
It is known that in the current academic year the intensity of combat training has significantly increased. As reported by the media beginning. Landfill Lieutenant Colonel A. Evtenko, the problem of fuel and ammunition shortages has been resolved. In the summer period of training (in 2016), several major training events were held: battalion and company and tactical bilateral and one-sided exercises, additional training for drivers of tracked and wheeled vehicles, training camps for sniper, repair, motorized rifle, engineering, artillery and reconnaissance units. In September, at the Prudboy training ground, a command-and-staff exercise was conducted on the ground with the twentieth police brigade. Moreover, maneuvers with one of the BTU motorized rifle battalions took place with the stage of combat shooting.
To bring the exercises closer to real combat operations, company tactical kits were deployed, installed in different places.
According to media reports, today the capacity of the Prudboy training ground has been significantly increased. Moreover, this did not require the use of any additional costs.
The commander of the troops of the Southern Military District, it was decided to increase the time for night and daytime and classes. The students were “given” 6 hours a day: 3 hours each in the dark and daylight hours. Experts believe that this significantly improves the conditions for driving, shooting and other training. As the head of the training ground told reporters, the “field audiences” of Prudboy are in excellent working condition and meet the requirements of regulatory documents and generally accepted standards.
What ensures the effectiveness of exercises?
An increase in the intensity of combat exercises is ensured by the simultaneous use of all training facilities without exception. Objects at the landfill are not idle, this is subject to serious control.
Upon completion of the final inspections by employees, hasty “healing” of victims of shooting and driving objects begins. Usually the greatest amount of damage falls on the share of the BMP-3 director. War shells regularly inflict damage on elements of the target environment, which have to be restored. Material and financial support "Prudboy", according to the beginning. A. Evtenko, however, is insufficient. By and large, the decisive factor in ensuring the effectiveness of the operation of the training center is, as a rule, the initiative and enthusiasm of its personnel.
