They will be discussed in this article.
The device and administrative division of the city
Today within the Dnieper (Dnepropetrovsk), founded in 1776, there are about a million people. It is a rather harsh city with large industrial enterprises, bridges, massive buildings and universities.
Administratively, the Dnieper is divided into eight districts. Five of them are located on the right bank of the river: Central, Novokodaksky, Soborny, Shevchenkovsky and Chechelevsky, and three more on the left bank (Amur-Nizhnedneprovsky, Samara and Industrial region).
Dnepropetrovsk is also customary to divide into housing estates, housing estates, as well as historical areas. If you carefully consider the map of the city, you can see many interesting and unusual names: Mandrykovka, Chechelevka, Sail, Poplar, Igren and others.
In 2016, many areas of Dnepropetrovsk (like the city itself) were renamed. Five of them received new names. In addition, about three hundred city toponyms underwent a renaming procedure.

As can be seen from the table, the districts of Dnepropetrovsk significantly differ from each other in area and number of inhabitants. So, the leader in size and population is the Novokodak district. He is considered the oldest of all. Another interesting feature: all renamed areas of the city are located exclusively on the right bank of the Dnieper.
Novokodaksky district - the oldest
In 1920, the Novokodaksky (Leninsky) district was established. Dnepropetrovsk at that time was developing rapidly: old ones were being restored and new plants were being built, educational buildings and cultural houses were being erected. It was within this region at the end of the 19th century that the center of all Ukrainian metallurgy was located.
After the end of World War II, three huge sleeping areas grew in the Novokodaksky district of Dnepropetrovsk: Kommunar, Parus and Krasny Kamen. Today, within its borders are the most important enterprises of the iron and steel industry of the city: DZMO, plants named after Petrovsky and them. Lenin.
A unique building is located on Chechelevka - the Ilyich Palace, huge in size. It was built in 1928 and is an architectural monument of national importance. The building is considered a vivid example of Soviet constructivism - an architectural style that was popular in the 20-30s of the last century.
