Sam Van Aiken, a professor at the College of Fine Arts at the University of Syracuse (New York, USA), has an interesting hobby. He grows amazing fruit trees, each of which has several dozen varieties. To do this, he uses the old method, proven over the centuries - vaccinations.
Sam Van Aiken learned this on a Pennsylvania farm where he grew up. But he still feels this process as something unusual, magical. According to his recollections, tree grafting in childhood seemed to him something surprising, akin to Frankenstein's experiments.
The professor walked towards his impressive result by trial and error. “When I first started to vaccinate, I did not take into account the timing of the flowering of different species and varieties, ” he says. Over time, I began to take this factor into account and put together a flowering schedule. Now my trees are always beautiful."
