Kaliningrad is a city with a very noticeable cultural life, the activity of which is reflected in the number of museums, of which there are quite a lot. Moreover, both long-standing, with a rich heritage, and recently opened, with the most recent history. This is an indicator that the museums of Kaliningrad not only maintain traditions, but also multiply and develop. Museum of the World Ocean
It is both a museum and a scientific center, which has in its arsenal the only space communications vessel in the world “Cosmonaut Victor Patsaev”. Friedland Gate
This is one of the preserved ancient city gates, and today the historical and local history museum is located in their premises.

Household items from different eras - coffee grinders, dishes, various kitchen utensils, sewing machines and even a collection of beer bottles.
A separate room was given to a collection of small arms, released in Europe during the First and Second World War. The local history museum holds shift exhibitions and vernissages, like all other museums in Kaliningrad. Photos of evenings by the fireplace in a small hall, where literary and musical meetings are held by candlelight, are often found in the local press, these events attract a lot of public.

Art Gallery
It was founded back in 1988, but then bore the name of the Museum of Modern Art. Today, the gallery’s exposition is based on samples of official and alternative areas of painting from the time of the USSR, works by Russian and foreign artists, contemporary art by artists from the Baltic countries, and crafts from all over Russia. Separately, it is worth mentioning art objects from East Prussia until 1945.
In addition to the main exposition, the gallery, like other art museums in Kaliningrad, participates in Museum Night projects, youth and children's festivals.

Amber Museum
The museum building is a historical landmark: in the middle of the 19th century it was the bastion of the Don (in honor of the commander General Friedrich zu Don). At the end of World War II, for many years there were only ruins on the site of the bastion, but in 1977 the Soviet government began to rebuild the building, and at the end of 1979 the world's first amber museum was opened in the reconstructed building.
Currently, the museum can learn the history of the origin of the craft and aspects of amber mining, view unique exhibits, including amber nuggets with inclusions, amber jewelry and magnificent jewelry made of gold and silver with amber.

Kant Museum
The construction of the cathedral, in the building of which the museum is located, was begun as early as the 14th century on the Kneiphof skeleton and lasted fifty years. Today, many museums in Kaliningrad, including the Kant Museum, are interesting not only for their collections, but also for the history of the building itself. So, the cathedral itself is a historical landmark of the city.
Bishop Johannes Claret began construction. Subsequently, a clock with a bell ringing was installed on the cathedral tower. In the altar there are tombs of the rulers of Prussia, belonging to the Hohenzollern dynasty. At its walls, in a sarcophagus of dark granite, surrounded by twelve columns, the great German philosopher Immanuel Kant also rests. The museum named after him contains exhibits reflecting his era, telling about the philosopher's legacy and his life.
With the exception of small restoration work and some architectural buildings added to the ensemble at a later time, the cathedral looked unchanged from the end of construction to the storming of the city of Königsberg in April 1944, when the historic building was seriously damaged. Many years after the end of the war, as a result of a long and large-scale restoration, the cathedral became operational again, and in 1991 the first service was held within its walls.

Altes Haus Amalienau
In Kaliningrad, there are many houses and apartments that were able to maintain the almost lost spirit of old Koenigsberg. One of the most interesting is located in house number 12 on Pugacheva street. In this apartment, not only walls in dilapidated wallpaper, a ceiling with authentic paintings, a larch floor laid a hundred years ago, and the original interior doors are preserved. In addition, the interior of the apartment itself is selected so that you can plunge into the authentic atmosphere characteristic of the citizens of the early XX century.
On excursions to Amalienau it is most convenient to come in groups. And for a fee you can order tea in the apartment, because due to the fact that this is a private collection, something is possible here that other museums in Kaliningrad will not offer. The apartment is open daily from 15:00, but it is necessary to contact the owners in advance.
