Unusual spherical sarcosome mushroom - a very rare specimen listed in the Red Book. Occurs sometimes in Siberia and the Urals, as well as in some regions of Russia. In the world, spherical sarcosome is common in Europe and North America. What else stands out this mushroom among others, besides its unusual appearance?

Sarcosoma globosum is a barrel-shaped apothecia (or fruiting body) filled with a clear, viscous fluid. Apothecia can be round, ovoid, cylindrical up to 6 cm in diameter and up to 10 cm high, but some grow significantly larger than the indicated sizes. Spherical mushroom sarcosome (photo presented in the article) dark brown or brown. The surface of young mushrooms is smooth, of mature mushrooms - velvety, of aging - dry and wrinkled. Above is a disk covering the inner fluid. It is shiny, smooth or slightly concave, very dark, almost black. Root strings several centimeters in length extend from the bottom of the fungus.

The internal fluid is odorless with a neutral taste. The spherical mushroom sarcosome is valued precisely for this liquid, which is used as a medicine. As studies have shown, in its composition there are various sugars. The mushroom needs them in order to create pressure inside the apothecia and throw out mature spores with a powerful pressure. The release occurs every 2-3 minutes, and in large quantities, with high pressure. As you eject, the amount of fluid decreases, and the spherical sarcosome becomes a wrinkled black plate. Fruiting always occurs in spring, in April - May, sometimes even from under the snow.

The scattered spores germinate and die immediately, because they need special conditions. Sarcosome spherical grows only on moss litter and in territories far from civilization. If the spore has penetrated deep into the moss, then under favorable conditions it develops, and after a few years a new mushroom grows. Sometimes disputes are stored for years or even decades, which is why scientists note the frequency of growth in the same areas with an interval of 10-12 years. In addition, it is very difficult to find this rare specimen due to its disguise in the layer of moss.

For humans, fluid from the fruiting bodies that the spherical sarcosome produces is of particular value. This substance contains 18 valuable fatty acids. The liquid is taken to increase immunity inside, and also rubbed into the scalp to accelerate hair growth. From the walls of the mushroom make nutritious masks for the skin, and also prepare alcohol tinctures for the treatment of radiculitis and rheumatism. A preparation called "Earth oil" is prepared on the basis of this fungus. This is not only a cosmetic product, but also a valuable product for the treatment of many diseases. Scientists did not fully reveal the potential of the spherical sarcosome.

There is evidence that very rare proteins that cannot be synthesized artificially are found both in the liquid and in the walls of this unusual and valuable fungus. Unfortunately, deforestation and the development of new territories made it virtually impossible to find this species. Each new place is considered a discovery and is fixed on a map of the region.
