His mother - Liliana Zinovievna Lungina (Markovich) - was a philologist and translator of fiction, which became famous thanks to the translation of the instantly popular story in Russia about Malysh and Carlson.
Pavel Semenovich in 1971 graduated from the linguistic department of Moscow State University. This year in his life was saturated with another wonderful event - he had a son, Sasha - the future producer and film director.
Pavel Lungin never rested on his laurels, and soon he went to study at the Higher Courses of the directing department of the workshop of G. Danelia and M. Lvovsky.

France

As a director, he made his debut in the film, shot in its own script, “Taxi Blues” (1990) with Peter Mamonov, who received the award at the Kansky festival.
Then he worked on several documentaries - “The Gulag is the Secret of Happiness” (1991), “Underground Pioneer” (1993), “Nice: Little Russia” (1993), “Vladimir Mayakovsky” (1998), and also created the feature film "Luna Park" (1992), etc.
In 2000, he shot the film "Wedding", which received an award in Cannes. The main roles were played by M. Mironova and M. Basharov. In 2001, the movie “Oligarch” became the rental leader, and the film “Poor Relatives” won the prize “Kinotavr-2005”.
One of his outstanding works was Ostrov with Peter Mamonov, filmed in 2006 and collecting a huge number of awards. In 2009, he created the film “Tsar”, again, with Peter Mamonov. And then there was the film “Conductor” (2012), the series “Homeland”, and “Lady Peak” with Ksenia Rappoport became one of his final works in 2016.
