Gotti lived in a modest three-story house in Queens. They had four more children - Victoria, Frank, John and Peter.
In March 1980, 12-year-old Frank Gotti was riding his friend’s bike, and a car hit him to death. DiGiorgio became depressed and was on the verge of suicide. She was almost bedridden for a year after the tragic death.
Living a dangerous life
DiGiorgio knew that her husband was a criminal, but was taken by surprise when her son John also chose this path. Family members were shocked to learn that he was arrested for gambling and extortion in 1998.
In 2002, John Gotti Sr. died in a prison hospital after losing a battle with throat cancer. He was 61 years old.
John Gotti Jr. was in prison until December 2009 and was released.
