Frederick Winecombe, a 105-year-old resident of Plymouth, took part in World War II and was shot dead during an operation called the Dam Destroyers. Despite such a venerable age, a man is full of strength and energy. According to his daughter, he still has excellent health and goes shopping on his own.

The war hero, who took part in the famous Dambusters raid (Dam Destroyers), claims to be only 25 years old. At the age of 105, he continues to drive to his favorite supermarket and makes purchases for the coming week.
Veteran Frederick Winecomb still retains all his teeth and is not taking any medications. He continues to lead a lifestyle that is quite active for his age, and his daughter says that the man feels very well. Especially when you consider how old he is and what events he managed to transfer for a long life.
Mr. Winecombe survived being wounded in the sky. During World War II, he was shot dead over France, and then captured and sent to the Buchenwald concentration camp in Weimar, Germany. The man endured both of these tests and now lives happily with his family in Plymouth. He is still easy to climb and is not averse to go grocery shopping, taking a walk or celebrating his own birthday in a noisy company.

Frederick, whom almost everyone at his request called simply Fred, says that the secret of his longevity is in the right way of life. They never found themselves from physical activity and trying to eat only healthy food.
“I escaped trouble. I worked until 80 years old. We always had green products, the food was really good, no convenience foods. ”

Frederick Winecombe was born in 1914.
He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force as a sergeant during World War II.
For six and a half years spent in the air force, he was shot down over France, and then captured and lived in a concentration camp.
After the war, a man got a job in a clothing store. At the age of 65, he moved to Batten Finance, where he worked as a tax collector. Fred continued to work there until he was 80 years old. The man was forced to retire due to the fact that his vision began to deteriorate. Now he suffers from macular degeneration - a hereditary disease that affects the ability to see.
Denise said: “He never wanted people to know too much about his past. But now he is older, and I understand that he really likes attention. Now people know what happened during the war. People recognize him and come to greet or say thank you. We see him enjoying it. ”
105th birthday

Military sites show that Fred was part of the Lancaster KV727 crew.
There is also evidence that the KV727 fighter was shot down by the Ju88 fighter in the early morning of July 5, 1944.
It details the story of how Frederick and his colleagues were in the crowded Frenes prison, "a disgusting place with the worst conditions."
It is believed that Fred is now the only surviving member of that team. And, most likely, he is one of the oldest living members of the Bomber Command.
