Yuri Yakovlevich was born on May 21, 1951 in the town of Nikolaevsk-on-Amur, which is located in the Khabarovsk Territory.

The family was not easy. Father is the secretary of the Nikolaev city committee of the CPSU. Mom taught mathematics, then she began to direct at school. The future Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation, Yuri Chaika, grew up in a large family - in addition to him, there are three more children in the family, with Jura being the youngest.

He was an ordinary child, went to the most ordinary school closest to his house. After school, he entered the Polytechnic at the Faculty of Shipbuilding, but did not study long - left the institute and went to work as an electrician.

After serving in the army, the guy gathered his thoughts and again decided to get a higher education. This time he chose a law institute.

At the university, Yuri Yakovlevich met with Yuri Skuratov, who was the prosecutor general at that time. Thanks to such a useful acquaintance, in the future he could grow from a regular investigator to the highest rank in the prosecutor's office.

First, Yuri Chaika worked in the prosecutor's office of the Ust-Udinsky district. Then he transferred to the East Siberian Transport Prosecutor's Office, after which he moved to a similar position in Irkutsk. There, Yuri Yakovlevich did what attracted the attention of almost all prosecutors in Russia - he sent a criminal case to the court under the article “Banditry”. Having learned about this, Yuri Skuratov made him his deputy.

In 1999, Skuratov was removed from the post of Attorney General and Yuri Chaika became his duties. He also headed the Ministry of Justice, where he was able to prove himself a demanding, tough official, who throws all his strength into the fight against crime. Among his other merits, Yuri Yakovlevich created the Office for the Observance of the Rights of Citizens.

In 2006, something that the official strove for all his life happened - now everyone knew him as Attorney General Yuri Chaika. For his activities in the legal field, Yuri Yakovlevich received the title - "Honored Lawyer of the Russian Federation."

Yuri Yakovlevich appeared many times in scandals. One of the largest was that he was accused of covering up the organizers of an illegal business. This happened due to the fact that the son of Yuri Artem allegedly engaged in illegal business.

In 2015, Yuri Chaika again came to the attention of the press. This again happened because of the son of Artem, who, according to opposition leader Alexei Navalny, was engaged in banditry. Yuri said the allegations are completely false. Later, he began to argue that nothing helps his sons, they build their entire business themselves. The personal life of Yuri Chaika is stable. In his youth, he met a girl named Elena, whom he married in 1974. Previously, she was engaged in teaching, however, when the children were born, she left work and completely devoted herself to family life.
